Look for Rev. Al in the front row.
I seem to recall that Steven Spielberg came under fire for “The Color Purple” for being a white director of a black movie. Affirmative action has never been about quality.
Perhaps they need to shut down Hollywood blvd and scream that black artists matter.....yeah, that will work!
Task Force Director's Cut
I give the Oscars 5 years before they are politically corrected out of existence. I mean, how dare we call anyone the “best” at anything? And separate recognition for males and females? This kind of thing is anathema to the Hollywood liberals, right?
Let’s just follow the stupid youth sports model: Everyone Gets A Trophy!
The stories earlier were saying the snubbing had to do with Orah being toxic (on points, race not a factor) and that cascading down to any and every thing associated with her.
Spielberg was toxic for a long time too, snubbed left and right for some exceptional work. But I don’t recall antisemitism being blamed for it.
You know, I went back and reread that second para a couple times. I think many of us are missing the point being made.
It’s not that it was racist to exclude her. It’s that because she wasn’t included, she won’t get opportunities for other work. And denying her those opportunities is what’s racist.
IOW the case is made that she should have been included for affirmative action reasons. Theres no real case made that she deserved inclusion on the merit of the work, just that non inclusion will hurt the future prospects of one of the few female Black directors.
Oprah the billionaire will just make another film about racism.....
affirmative action knows no bounds. there must be a nigflic genre Oscar
Thanks for the heads up. Watched it this evening.
An ending I did not expect.
Perhaps there is a place for filmmakers of faith after all.
Then the ‘Transformers’ films are great and Schindler’s List and Forrest Gump are garbage.
