So much for Rubio's "apology/squirrel" immigration tour. At the first opportunity he wants to stick it to American STEM workers.

This proves the point. Wages keep going down at Oracle.
They’ve given only one cost of living raise in eight years! And the raise was just 1% for most people, including the folks in my group.
Furthermore, they cut the yearly total compensation of all field sales engineers by $7000 last fall.
So that means I make less than I did in 2006.

So their solution to the immigration problem is to let more in?

Just as soon as they start the “commonsense”, “sensible” or “reasonable” stuff you can tell they’ve been sleeping with Chuckie Schumer.

Are there any Constitutional lawyers out there? How is this H1B bill different from a ‘Bill of Attainder’ which is unconstitutional?

We need H1B visas for politicians.
Bring in a bunch of Paraguayan politicians. They’ll work a lot cheaper and will accept a much lower level of bribes.
And they’ll be a lot smarter than what we’ve got.

To hire a “guest” worker, the employer should have to fill out, by hand, a 1,000 page document explaining why a native born American is not available and can not do the job or be trained to do the job. These foreign graduates need to go home and build their own ecconomy.

Our bill is a commonsense, bipartisan approach to help ensure that those who have come here to be educated in high-tech fields are able to stay with their families and contribute to the economy and our society.. So the kid gets a visa goes to school here gets a STEM degree, then gets a green card and invites his family over

Oh, great, now that I - as an experienced engineer in the Silicon Valley in my 40s - finally have a job that pays 2/3 of what my old salary used to be - BUT WITH NO BENEFITS OR SICK DAYS OR VACATION DAYS...
...our @$$#0L3 patricians back in DC want to push me back to full unemployment, but, since I've been working contracts, no unemployment benefits whatsoever.
FU GOP SENATE !!!!
To: C19fan
Other than Flack for AZ, none of these Senators come from States with sizable High Tech.
It looks like they are trying to kiss up to Silicon Valley for donations.
Here’s a clue, the GOP lost Silicon Valley back in the ‘90s

Everytime someone whines about the lack of STEM workers in America, I ask them what bright young person would prepare themselves for a difficult career which is chronically and regularly outsourced or replaced with imported workers.
From the late 1980s until about 15 years later, Japan had worker shortages in a number of areas which they solved by putting no quotas on imported workers but requiring that they be paid a salary of at least 10% more than native workers in the same industry. It solved the two-fold problem of worker shortages and, at the same time, encouraged native workers to go in the fields because the increased overall wages were attractive. i.e., a high concentration of premium paid foreign workers with the skillset acted to make the 10% premium even higher. In addition, the foreign workers were free to move to other companies. I know because I was one and I did.
How much need would STEM companies have for foreign workers if the had to pay a premium and didn't get an indentured servant in return?
