The National Rifle Association and other gun rights groups have hit back hard at one Missouri lawmaker’s plan to add a tax on guns sold in the state to pay for cameras for police officers.
Brandon Ellington, a Democratic lawmaker representing the Kansas City region, introduced separate bills that would require all uniformed police officers to wear body cameras and maintain recordings for 30 days, and would establish a tax on firearm sales to pay for the new mandate, Guns.com reported.
The tax would add a 1 percent cost to every retail sale of handguns and ammunition, with the proceeds sent to a new “Peace Officer Handgun and Ammunition Sales Tax Fund,” Guns.com reported.
Another tax on other personal properties would also be deposited into that same fund, the media outlet said.

This tax is 1000 times more than what it would cost.
Its not going anywhere. Democrats are anti-police and anti-Second Amendment.

Since stolen guns are used almost exclusively in crimes put the tax on stolen gun sales. (Hey, it makes as much sense as most legislation)
I really need to fill out that NRA card and send in my check.
Personally, I would fund the cams by a special 1% payroll tax on ALL Missouri State and local officials in legislative or management positions (both salaries and pensions) and on the salaries and pensions of all State and local law enforcement employees. Rate to be adjusted upward if 1% is insufficient to put a cam on every leo State or local interacting with the Citizens. Any surplus in the fund to be used to cover court judgements for leo misbehaviour.
Here’s a better idea. A tax on contingency lawyers gross profits.
So, no, Missouri is NOT a f*cked up state or what, but clearly you are.
I am probably going to get shelled for this. At the core of it, I do not see an issue with this. Missouri is a soveriegn state. If the people that were elected to office pass such a tax, and it doesn’t violate the constitution, then who are you to complain? I say that a a Missouri citizen, an TEA party supporter, and as a pro-2A person.
The people of a state get what they desever when they elect their state and local officials. Thankfully, the people of MO have not elected, as a majority, those that would shackle us at every turn. This bill doesn’t have a chance in hell of making.
