Mrder by whites in the US is roughly equal to murder rates in western Europe. I’m not sure that guns are really the problem.

Well at 317 million there would be one gun per person....but most gun owners have two or three.

Iirc the average is about three per owner, so 100 million owners with 300 million guns. Making 1/3 of Americans gun owners.

Strange that you should say that. I live on a lake and while taking my weaponry to a neighbors for a cleaning party, I underestimated the weight of my arsenal and a sudden squall swamped my boat. I barely escaped with my life. We were able to salvage the boat but the contents were irretrievable.
I hope when I go fishing this spring, evolution will not have made the experience a little more dangerous.
