More than 40 European leaders and almost every French official turned out for the massive unity rally in Paris Sunday but there was no sign of the U.S.
Neither President Obama or Vice President Biden made the trip to Paris, although dozens of other world leaders and officials put ceremony aside and jostled for space amid the crowds in a stirring show of support against terrorism.
The U.S. did send Attorney General Eric Holder to attend a pre-march terrorism summit convened by French President Francois Hollande.
Holder, 63, joined with Hollande in condemning the recent Paris attacks in the strongest possible terms and said the U.S. will hold another terrorism summit in D.C. in February.
But his support apparently stopped there because he wasnt seen at the emotional Je Suis Charlie rally afterward that attracted 1.3 million. Across France, nearly 4 million people turned out in similar demonstrations.
As chanting spectators filled the Place de la Republique, the only U.S. dignitary present was the U.S. Ambassador to France Jane Hartley.

I honestly think nobody from DC was invited. I saw no American faces in the side speeches after the march.
Look what they did to the maker of the video that supposedly launched the attack against our mission in Benghazi. Or the measures they took against James Rosen. They are not for free speech. They are oppressors who share more values with the radical Islamists than they do with our Founders.
The terrorsts didn’t kill any black folks, but the French police did. No wonder Holder didn’t show.
Holder was in Paris at the time and he is the Attorney General of the US and is responsible for prosecuting terrorists among other things, The FBI works for him.
Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific assurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.
Not exactly "urban legend". Not quite as inflammatory as "I will stand by the Muslims". And probably written by Bill Ayers in any case.
Because it was an anti-jihadist rally and the muslim in the WH couldn’t possibly bring himself to allow anyone to attend
Hope the Daily News’ taxes are in order.
[As long as the leader of the free world, Netanyahu, was there.]
Ronald Reagan would have been there as well as Margaret Thatcher and Winston Churchill.
We need leaders who understand the sacrifice of freedom and liberty.
And Obama is a [m]uslim. I'm convinced of it; there just too much evidence: his ring. His ashura head scar. His trip to Pakistan and Iran. Surrounding himself with [m]uslim staff, and appointing Islamists to key positions. Statements he's said, things he's written. Freudian slips on camera "my [m]uslim religion" and "fifty-seven states" are examples. His insistence to cover the "IHS" (symbolizing Jesus) at his visit to an Ivy League college. Following Ramadan traditions by taking jewelry off (his famous ring) and leaving at jeweler's for cleaning--yeah, for a whole month! (Talk about slow service for the President. My wife gets quicker service.)
For those of you who won't accept that this man is a [m]uslim, at least accept that he's a sympathizer.
Given all this...why WOULD he attend a solidarity rally with other leaders, European leaders, those whom he wouldn't bow to? (Did anyone else notice he never bowed to the French, British, German, Italian, etc., leaders?)
We have a President with a hate-filled heart. One with a chip on his shoulder. One who fundamentally wants to transform America (his words) because he fundamentally hates what America is.
Those head scars and Shiia are a new thing to think about.

You were correct! Watching football and meeting another team today. Nailed it!
“Actual quote from “The Audacity of Hope” [pg. 261]: “ that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”
Yes, that is correct. The error is when the quote adds “I will stand by the Muslims ....” He didn’t say that, but it appears all over the Internet.
