I once worked with a white guy from South Africa who’d become a naturalized U.S. citizen. He cracked me up when he’d talk about being a genuine African-American. It was ironic, but true.

Can someone tell the CNNers that there are black natives of islands in the Indian Ocean and the area around the Great Barrier Reef that are neither African nor American? Their heads will explode.
