#75 – The Vapors: “Turning Japanese”

The big change in music for the Eighties came from MTV, which had just as big an influence as Elvis and the Beatles. Acts that would never have been heard got a listen because they could produce a music video for a new medium that had a voracious appetite for them. New Wave and Punk Rock made a splash because MTV would program a video while a radio station might hesitate at airing a record. The sound of the Seventies was being overturned as marginal acts became mainstream acts. This is a good exmaple.
