"If the 'base' of a party doesn’t actually vote for the candidates that the party runs how can it be considered 'the base'?"

We conservatives have been the base of the Republican party for a long long time, but it's becoming clear to millions of us, that we're more akin to hostages or vote slaves, than partners in that political party.

There's no doubt, that in the next election, the usual suspects will come out fear mongering that, "You must vote GOP, because.......Democrats!" That's going to ring mighty hollow after the betrayals we've recently witnessed (Mississippi, Cromnibus, Speaker vote, etc.).

Thing is, low info Republican voters will pull the lever for a true conservative OR a worthless RINO - merely because they've got an R next to their name. The same can't be said of true conservatives - the proof of which are the results of the 2012 presidential election.

Any thinking strategist worth their salt would exhort the GOP to run real conservatives for office, given the above reality. That's IF they want to win elections. If they're ok with losing, and reverting back to being the Washington Generals, then that tells you all you need to know about them.

Frankly, I think most of us have already drawn that conclusion.
