A renewed push by some Democrats for an increase in the federal gas tax to replenish the Highway Trust Fund drew a frosty reception Thursday from Speaker John A. Boehner though the Ohio Republican stopped short of ruling the idea out.
Both Boehner and the top-ranking Democrat in the House, Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, were asked Thursday about an increase in the 18.4 cent-per-gallon federal gas tax after the National Republican Campaign Committee sought to make a gas tax increase a political liability for Democrats.
Ive never voted to raise the gas tax. Funding the highway bill is critically important, it is a priority for this year. How we will fund it were going to have to work our way through it, Boehner, R-Ohio, said at his weekly press conference.

“He” didn’t rule out anything. The Agencies, Bureaus, aides, staff, and ExtortionCare Lobby, rule on everything now.
He’s there because he can be manipulated, compromised for gain, or vote incapacitated. (Along with the rest.)
So “He” didn’t rule out anything now or ever will, nor will any in Congress or the executive branch anymore. .

A GOOD IDEA - since the ALTERNATIVE is a GPS TRACKING and TOLLING system.
But, NO DOUBT, people here WILL STILL prefer tracking and tolling (thousands of dollars per year)...to paying $100/year more for gas...if they media pushes it hard enough.

A renewed push by some Democrats for an increase in the federal gas tax to replenish the Highway Trust Fund...before there's any talk about any such raise in the gas tax for any such replenishment, there had better be a complete accounting for all the money spent in the 2009 stimulus bill, which was supposed to provide funding for all those - haha there really weren't any - "shovel ready jobs" - ie infrastructure renewal - before they take up any such increase, the 'pubs' first step must be to demand such an accounting......

“Read my lips” deja vu all over again. Dems never give up, Repubs never learn. A vote for new taxes is a vote to trash the new Congress and have people hate Repubs.
