As New York Police Strike, Mayor Bill de Blasio Outlaws Packing Peanuts

With the NYPD slowdown due to Mayor Bill de Blasio’s support for racist cop killers, no one is actually enforcing the minor rules and regulations, summonses aren’t being issued and people hop turnstiles in the subway with reckless abandon.

But petty tyrants aren’t to be deterred and Mayor Wilhelm/De Blasio has focused in on the city’s greatest enemy. Packing peanuts.

Nearly two years after Mr. Bloomberg first proposed banishing the material in his final State of the City address, de Blasio administration officials are expected to announce on Thursday that they have completed the deed.

Beginning on July 1, food establishments will be barred from using plastic foam cups or containers, compelling purveyors of curbside cart fare and Chinese takeout, among others, to find alternatives. The sale of packing peanuts within the city limits will also be prohibited, though peanut-laden parcels can still be shipped to New Yorkers from elsewhere.

For now.

Though I’m sure before too long every package that crosses city lines will be inspected by special packing peanut sniffing dachshunds.

Of course there will be no one to enforce it because the NYPD isn’t cooperating. So mayor Bill de Blasio can dispatch special community organizers with armbands and brown shirts to hunt down the evil packing peanuts.

But meanwhile New Yorkers can enjoy cold food…. for the environment.

Former Bloomberg administration officials cheered the foam’s imminent demise.

“We created and undertook the most ambitious sustainability plan in the nation,” Caswell F. Holloway, the former deputy mayor for operations, said in a statement. “This latest step is another reason why New York has become a model for cities around the world.”

Sure, keep telling yourselves that.

Nonprofits and businesses with less than $500,000 in annual revenue can apply for exemptions, which they will receive if they prove that buying other materials in place of foam would create “undue financial hardship.

What about businesses owned by black transgender gay otherkin? Surely they’ll get special exemptions too. Especially if they have Sharpton on speed dial. Or are married to Bill de Blasio.

At a cart across the street, Sammay’s Halal Food, John Flynn, 22, who works as a porter nearby, endorsed foam as the carrier of choice, particularly in the dead of winter.

“I just want to keep my food warm,” he said, his breath visible.

Enemy of the State! Mother Gaia demands his execution! John must be turned into Soylent Green immediately… for the environment.

I like the idea, but I think sending him something like dog poop may be technically illegal.

Yeah, I believe you're right.

But this might be just the thing...

7.7 million NYC people didn’t vote for de Blasio.

Not that that totally excuses them.

You are correct; the bigger problem is that 73% of the registered voters did not even bother to cast a ballot :(
