One MUST distinguish.

JURIDICALLY, anyone baptized a Catholic is a Catholic until he leaves the Church BY A FORMAL ACT. (I.e., not just drifting away, not just by attending another church.)

Obviously, someone like Cuomo, Pelosi, Biden, or anyone registered in the party of abortion, is a Catholic ONLY in the juridical sense. Morally, spiritually, they are apostates. Their situation is much WORSE than that of the ordinary Catholic grave sinner, because they falsely proclaim themselves CATHOLIC AND WITHOUT SIN.
