And good reason in WWII to suspend freedom because of the riots. They also suspended freedoms during our Civil War. I can understand why rights get suspended during wartime. They thankfully had the sense as Congress and the POTUS to suspend freedoms for the sake of public safety. And it is constitutional what they did in both wars.

Whatever they did, there was massive and deadly rioting in the United States during the war, worse than we have seen recently.

What Constitution have you been reading? Does yours have a “break in case of emergency” (”emergency” defined however you please) clause?
