WOULD WE HAVE WON WWII WITH TODAY'S PC CULTURE? 1/4/2015 0 Comments
Watching the media and liberals go crazy over the "Torture Report" makes me wonder what would have happened if they lived and reported during World War II. First, since FDR was President, they may have been fine since it was one of their own making the rules.
Anyone who has researched WWII knows that part of the war meant civilians were going to be killed. In order to win a war you cannot handcuff your military on rules of engagement. In Europe we had strategic bombings in the countries of our allies to attack German positions, civilians died. In one of the most aggressive actions later in the war the Allies firebombed and destroyed the city of Dresden, again killing thousands. In Japan, to bring the war to a finish, we dropped two Atom Bombs on major cities killing tens of thousands of people. This directly led to the surrender of Japan. Would today's media and liberal celebrated, or would they have condemned us as a country and demanded Truman and others be brought up on charges for murder?
People will argue that times were different , and indeed they were. It will also be pointed out that these were Nations that declared war on the U.S. not terror organizations. These are valid points. However, in many of the places we are battling ISIS, Al Qaeda and the Taliban, the areas where we can attack have civilians that provide support and aid to the organizations. Certainly there are many in the area that do not. However, in WWII there were many civilians that undoubtedly disagreed with there leaders that lived in the cities that were bombed. The decision has to be made do we want to win and decapitate the enemy or not? If we are not committed to winning the battle, we simply put our men and women in the services in danger for no good reason. Limiting the rules of engagement put these brave soldiers in harms way. Part of defeating the enemy is to gain information from those that are captured. These parties did not sign onto the Geneva convention as they are not governments. They will use any and all forms of cruelty and death to murder Americans. While we use enhanced interrogation methods, these people also kept in accommodations that provide them more luxuries then many had where they lived.
There is an irony of the media and liberal gnashing of teeth over the "Torture Report" and calling for indictments on those involved. The liberals and media stay strangely silent on the use of drone strikes to target terrorists and even American's deemed as threats in foreign countries. The strikes have killed many innocent civilians. Somehow I find it incredible that "torture" that leaves no sustained injuries and was done to a small select group of individuals, is a crime. However killing these same sort of individuals, along with civilians is just fine? That is the paradox of today's liberal establishment and mainstream media.
Hopefully, in time, politics first for these people would be replaced by America first.
Forgot to mention this was from my new blog shoedog.weebly.com
“Would we have won WWII with today’s media and liberals?”
Yes, because they would all be in prison for sedition.
Just IMAGINE how today’s media would have played the Fire-Bombing of Dresden??
Oh yeah...
Rossevelt was a DEMOCRAT, so they wouldn’t have said a damned word.
See how the Reds learn the lessons of history?
Very Interesting.
It seems that the NY Times has been consistent in its devotion to ‘all the new fit to invent’.
no
I believe once the “media” and liberals found out that Hitler and his boys were murdering Jews, they would have gone over to Hitler’s side. I don’t think it would have been possible for the US to win the war. Also, the Japs and Krauts would have been given nukes by the lib DemocRATS to “level the playing field”. If we had today’s Congress, a lot of WWII veterans would have spent the rest of their lives in prison for killing enemies of America.
You ask the wrong question: Could we have won WWII with our present culture and society?
The media are only a symptom.
Judas effing priest. An overreaction. How do I hate the New York Times, let me count the ways.
The liberals of the 30’s were 100% against the war until Hitler attacked the Soviet Union. So, as long as events were the same and Russia was a communist nation, yes we’d have entered the war on the side of England. Having said that, I don’t think today’s worker is up to the same types of feats. I think the number of freeloaders who have never had a job and will never have one due to handouts would also represent a huge sea-anchor on the economy. Today’s Hollywood stars, though communists (liberal, whatever) would not get behind the effort as they did in the 1940’s. The nationalism of the 40’s is scoffed at today. We’d probably enter the war, but we would not be able to keep it up for long, especially if there was an uncensored press at the front who would put blood on the tube at dinnertime 365 days a year. We’d enter, but quit early at the first opportunity. The war would continue on and off for the next 50 years.
One thing they would not have tolerated, was the draft.
66% of the entire military, Navy, Army, Marines, was drafted.
The losses were staggering and the media would have reported every deadly blunder resulting in huge numbers of deaths, and there were many of those, our losses and defeats in battles would have been used to weaken our will and confidence. In time they would have destroyed the American will to fight.
Yes we would. People calling for killing cops wouldn’t have been protected back then. People trying to protest as the lengths they would go to today, would not be approved. Many of today’s liberals, if as open as they are today, would be in mental institutions. Military leaker would be executed.
The media creates our culture and society, they are not symptoms of it.
They are leading us, not following us.
Some of Hollywood’s actors (James Stewart) put a lot of helping hands into the effort. Hollywood was for us winning that one.

Nope.
And we wouldn’t be able to put a man on the moon today either because of our fear of risk and liability.
The media are only a symptom.
Don't sell the media short. It played a big part in shaping today's culture and society, far more than a mere symptom.
The reds in the press and Hollywood were very afraid that the first communist state would lose the war and that communism would thereby become a relic of history.
