I have my mom living in separate, attached apartment. I’m worried all the time, and have flat out refused a treadmill in the house. We buy Life Alert or something of the kind, but honestly I worry every day. Thankfully it has been unnecessary nearly all of the time :). I pray for all of us taking care of our parents, may we all have a good, strong, healthy year ahead!

My husband and I each have moms who are rabidly independent; but becoming frailer by the day. They both are still trying to stay in their homes and have refused anything like Life Alert etc. Both are fallers.

Every day we wake up and get on the phone with them to make sure they haven’t fallen during the night. Last night my mother-in-law fell at 3:00 a.m. Fortunately no injuries, fell close enough to furniture that she could get herself up and she was using her cane.

All of this has spiraled downward during 2014. Not at all sure what 2015 is going to bring. So, from your lips to God’s ears with regard to a good, strong, healthy year. As my mother says, thank God for calcium!
