The Ducks and Buckeyes will meet for the trophy in Arlington, Texas.
On Monday, Jan. 12 at 8:30 p.m. ET, the No. 2 Oregon Ducks and No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes will be in Cowboys Stadium to play in the first-ever College Football Playoff final. The Ducks clinched their spot by embarrassing defending champion Florida State in the Rose Bowl, 59-20, while OSU upset No. 1 Alabama, 42-35, in New Orleans.
This will be Oregon's second appearance in an officially ordained national championship game. The Ducks' first came in the 2010 season's BCS Championship, when they lost, 22-19, to Cam Newton's Auburn in Arizona.
Ohio State made three BCS Championships, winning 2002's against Miami and losing 2006's and 2007's to Florida and LSU, respectively.
According to odds released before the Playoff began, Oregon would be a 6.5-point favorite against Ohio State. We'll wait to see the actual spread after Vegas gets another look at things. You gotta think both teams just moved the needle a little bit.

This is the best thing for college football. So glad no sec team is in it.
OSU 55 OU 38
Ohio State won’t turn the ball over 5 times to the Ducks...I see double nickels for the Buckeyes against OU. The Quack Attack will take a step back, 38 points in a loss.
He wasn’t there last year. Alabama fell to 0-3 in Sugar Bowls with Nick Saban as head coach.
OSU is a young team. They should be pre-season number 1 next year, with TCU number 2.
They could have saved FSU the embarassment by putting TCU or Baylor in the mix. And I’m convinced TCU would have truly embarassed Alabama.
Alabama won a National Championship in the Sugar Bowl under Saban.
“I was almost pulling for Ohio State near the end of the game because of the sickening bad play calling from Alabama. Go Buckeyes”
Amen brother!
A freeper showed me how to get the games on the internet.
I think he means free TV.
And now...ESPN is desperately trying to cancel the National Championship telecast because an SEC team is NOT in it!
The Big 12 hasn’t done so good.
Excuse me, Saban is 1-2 at the Sugar Bowl with Alabama having lost to Utah and Oklahoma.
From the SEC West only Tex A&M 7-5 and Arkansas 6-6 won. We SEC fans are hoping 6-6 Tenn, from the East, can put us over 50% tomorrow. ha!
I think otherwise. ESPN has a extreme leftist bias as evidenced by their support of Michael Sam and the firing of Rush Limbaugh. As liberals, they hate the most Conservative (and Christian) part of the country, the South. So my take is that ESPN is actually rejoicing that no teams from Dixie are going to be the CFP championship game.
Now 1-3.
In the other two losses, those Bama teams had a few players who were not all in. But this team wanted to win. I hated to see them lose. But the Buckeyes were a force to be reckoned with. They are hungry and played to win. I appreciate their attitude. Oregon played to win, too. It should be a great battle for the national title.
Thanks for the nice words. I can’t find another buck nut who knows who the 4th string quarterback is. Consensus is that that just maybe the third stringer is actually the best QB.
TCU has been the lone bright spot for the Big 12. But the two marquee programs of the Big 12, Oklahoma and Texas, laid big giant eggs.
How the Vols have fallen of late. They were the first BCS winner in 1998 and were a powerhouse for decades. But even Vandy has played them tough for the past few years.
Bama may have wanted to win. But I think they were lucky in a few games this year just like FSU. And their luck ran out. Like FSU, they had to come from behind to beat Arkansas.
