The Ducks and Buckeyes will meet for the trophy in Arlington, Texas.
On Monday, Jan. 12 at 8:30 p.m. ET, the No. 2 Oregon Ducks and No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes will be in Cowboys Stadium to play in the first-ever College Football Playoff final. The Ducks clinched their spot by embarrassing defending champion Florida State in the Rose Bowl, 59-20, while OSU upset No. 1 Alabama, 42-35, in New Orleans.
This will be Oregon's second appearance in an officially ordained national championship game. The Ducks' first came in the 2010 season's BCS Championship, when they lost, 22-19, to Cam Newton's Auburn in Arizona.
Ohio State made three BCS Championships, winning 2002's against Miami and losing 2006's and 2007's to Florida and LSU, respectively.
According to odds released before the Playoff began, Oregon would be a 6.5-point favorite against Ohio State. We'll wait to see the actual spread after Vegas gets another look at things. You gotta think both teams just moved the needle a little bit.

All that SEC money to the selection committee down the drain!

I expect Oregon to be a TD favorite. They were unstoppable in the second half, though Florida State had been teetering all year.
It’ll be a fun match up. Glad to see Saban WON’T be there for a change.
Nice to see FBS get into late 20th century with little playoff.. There is going to be a better game on Saturday Jan 10 in FCS playoff, North Dakota State vs Illinois State in Frisco, TX..
Being a Buckeye fan - It is GOOD not to see Nick Saban there again this year.
If we could get down to Four Conferences (ACC, Big Ten, Pac-12, SEC), then you could get a 16-team playoff by having Conference Semi-Final and Conference Final games.
Send all the Texas teams in the Big-12 to the SEC, OU and OK State to the Pac-12, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State to the Big Ten, and West Virginia to the ACC.
As I mentioned in another thread, this is the first time since the advent of the BCS that a team from the South won’t be playing in the CFB championship. A bad couple of days for Alabama and Mississippi with the Tide, Ole Miss, Bulldogs and Auburn getting beat.
If we get to see it. There was only one game on today in the morning. The rest I guess were not televised. Amazing.
What do you mean? There was game after game on TV today.
Yeah, it was wall-to-wall college football today on all channels. ESPN will be televising the championship game.
I’ve been a Bama fan for 45 years but I knew they had a lot of shortcomings this year. I haven’t seen a more gutsy performance in 20 years than what I saw tonight from Ohio State. Urban has a great team and Cardale Jones is one cool quarterback. If he’s 3rd string I hate to think what the score would have been if Ohio State’s first stringer had been able to play. Congratulations from a humbled Alabama fan and I will be pulling for Ohio State in the National Championship game. Go Buckeyes.
Arkansas has been the only SEC team that has looked real good.
Watch out for them next season.
Fire Saban too. lol
Thank you - as a Buckeye fan - I appreciate your comments.
SEC sucks! The last two years they have been easy overrated. Today priced it! Big 10, Pac 12 and big 12 are the elite conferences. Go bucks!
