2. In 2015, Fidel Castro will vacation in Florida.

If you mean his corpse, then okay.

And I wouldn't call it a vacation, more of an autopsy.

In literature, George R. R. Martin will not release Winds of Winter, his eagerly awaited sixth novel in the Game of Thrones series.

I can tell you what happens, sight unseen.

Everyone dies.

Riddle: Do you know why George R.R. Martin does not use Twitter?

Answer: Because he killed all 144 characters.

That’s 15 commentators, all of whom missed the biggest story of 2015.

Israel will finally bomb Iran’s nuclear program. Count on it!

In the unlikely chance I am wrong, the West will be in even deeper s*** than we already are.

Crystal Ball Styx 1976

I used to like to walk the straight and narrow line
I used to think that everything was fine
Sometimes I’d like to sit and gaze for days through sleepless dreams
All alone and trapped in time
All alone and trapped in time

I wonder what tomorrow has in mind for me
Or am I even in it’s mind at all
Perhaps I’ll get a chance to look ahead and see
Soon as I find myself a crystal ball
Soon as I find myself a crystal ball

Tell me, tell me where I’m going
I don’t know where I’ve been
Tell me, tell me, won’t you tell me
And then tell me again
My heart is breaking, my body’s aching
And I don’t know where to go
Tell me, tell me, won’t you tell me
I’ve just got to know

Crystal ball
There’s so many things I need to know
Crystal ball
There’s so many things I’ve got to know
Crystal ball

If you should see me walking
Through your dreams at night
Would you please direct me
Where I ought to be
I’ve been looking for a crystal ball
To shed the light
To find a future in me
To find a future in me

Crystal ball
There’s so many things I need to know
Crystal ball
There’s so many things I’ve got to know
Crystal ball

Stephen Moffatt (writer for “Doctor Who”) kills off all his characters too. But because of the use of time travel all characters will be killed multiple times but will all be alive again by the end of the episode.

I have $5 and a pitcher of margaritas bet with my best friend Hill won’t run.

I also would not count too hard on the Fed tightening. Every time they announce it the Stock market tanks and they have to say “nevermind”

Media figures on the ‘Right’ will contione to preach conservatism and collect book deals, then moderate as history shows to accept Jeb/Mitt as the primary election nears. Yes, even a year out from the actual event.

People on the right will continue to scream NEVER AGAIN!!!
Most will develop jaundice in a peculiar proximity to the above occurrence. In fact they are doing it already. See Jeb threads for details.

The Pope will continue leftist proclamations culminating in the official ‘Admission’ (yea right) that Jesus was merely a metaphor, thus breaking up the last large opponent to leftism on earth. Faith in God. Because many people have faith as strong as their political conservatism. None.

The GOP and Dems will continue the propaganda campaigh to deny they have merged and many will fight in there army against unbelievers to the dogma. Same as last year.

Because the Romney campaign took excusemaking and historical revision to absurd levels, all that remains is fantasy land lying. Many will go to great lengths to deny the obvious and defend the fantasy. Same as last year.

People sticking to principle will be increasingly derided as purists and demonized outright for refusal to embrace progressively more evil as ‘the patriotic thing to do’ ‘Because the Dem is worse’. Same as last year.

Nothing will be done about any of it in any capacity, on any outlet, in any faith, in any forum or in any voting booth.

Same as last year.

HERE’s MINE AFTER SOME CONSIDERATION:

* The gulf between America’s haves and have-nots has never been wider. This gap will continue to grow. You can easily buy a car with 550 horsepower but 23% of Americans don’t have a credit card. 48% of Americans are receiving some form of government assistance including 34% on SNAP (food stamps) but it costs $6 to drive a car across the Golden Gate Bridge.

This economic gulf will continue as more poor people stream across our borders.

* The western hemisphere’s 2nd largest economy, Brazil’s, is equally as divided and equally as beset with scandal and opposing values and goals as the US is but should come out of its Great Divide more easily than the US will.

* Russia will build nuclear power generators for India.

* England may leave the EU.

* The recent commodities and commodities-stocks nosedive is short-lived. And will be over by second quarter of 2015.

* Don’t count on petroleum and iron ore either staying low-priced for the full year. Both are remarkably undervalued. But a war is on between OPEC and the USA’s shale oil interests. OPEC is determined to crush the USA’s shale oil industry. Even if it means selling petro on the world market at cost for a while. It’s a blessing for America’s working poor, who can afford to buy gas to get to work and also eat and pay the rent.

Note that while gasoline prices have fallen in the US, diesel fuel, which fuels our freight, has not. That suggests that the current low gasoline price is being manipulated by forces in the US hoping to make Americans happy, take the $18 trillion debt off center stage, give the Federal Reserve a lower profile, and help keep Obama from being impeached.

* The appearance of a new American demographic that market researchers are calling ‘the Nones.’ They are single American women who have good jobs no children no husband no debt and no religious affiliation. They are entrepreneurial or well educated or both. There are 4 million of them
-Increasing wealth and continuing support of the US economy from the most successful class of Americans: The AARPers.

* The highest rate of consumer activity in the US will surprisingly be belong to the 55-64 age group, not the twentysomethings. AARPers account for $3.1 trillion in US consumer spending annually. They spend $1.6 trillion on health care. Average value of households headed by Americans over 50 is $765,000

* The emergence of the New American Luddites. A large subculture of successful Americans rejects smartphones MP3 Online Shopping the Mall Culture Twitter Facebook Playstation videogames Instagrams Vimeo and even email for themselves and their children. They think it’s a sinkhole. They opt out of digital reality for themselves and their kids and choose one-on-one contact with their children as opposed to entertaining them with video and allowing them to spend hours on handhelds. They read. And encourage their kids to read. They don’t allow their 5th grade children to have their own iPhones. They don’t allow iPhones at the dinner table either. They force personal interaction eye contact manners and conversation. No gaming. They want their kids outdoors in the sunlight and active

* One more new US demographic: America’s HyperEducated Poor. They have graduate degrees in English, poetry, philosophy, French, Russian, Comp Lit, ceramics, painting, American History, and many others. They owe an average $60,000 in college debt. Most earn less than $8 an hour. They are on average at 142% of the $ federal poverty level. They are on SNAP (food stamps) state assistance programs and church food bank lists. A job at a Starbucks or as a waiter/waitress is a big step up. They are one step away from being homeless. There are ten million of them.

* Barack Obama’s fall from grace. The president will continue his downward slide in popularity over his immigration grandiosity or his defense failures or his illegal use of the IRS or his tacit advocacy of mob rule in tutoring Americans to hate the police. 17 states already are suing over his immigration grandstanding and his trampling of the Constitution.

Obama’s approval rating among our armed forces: a whopping 15%

* Look for the US to edge ever closer to race wars. Hands Up Don’t Shoot vs Pants Up Don’t Loot are two separate countries.

The US is as divided now as it was in 1859. Continuing mob rule over the rulings of grand juries plus public support of police has begun to heat the USA cold race war above the boiling point

Deteriorating black/white race relations in the US. Demand for ‘small business rights’ by retailers in black communities against black rioting looting and burning will create a nationwide backlash from America’s police departments and law enforcement officers and broad support from the American public for their local police.

* The fall of Japan, the world’s 3rd largest economy, into developing-nation economic status. Japan’s debt products were downgraded by Moody’s in late 2014. Japan’s economy won’t improve in 2015 as their population continues to grow older and shrink.

* The rise of the Robot Army. Kiva Systems LLC makes robotic fulfillment systems. Robots. They are warehouse employees. They go get stuff off shelves and take it to shipping stations. Amazon has 15,000 of Kiva robots.. Who else uses Kiva robots: Gap. Walgreens. Staples. Office Depot. Crate and Barrel. Saks 5th Avenue. Many more. Kiva Systems is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Amazon. Many warehouse jobs may become a thing of the past.

* The rule of 256 will now be acknowledged. The English language deteriorates into Tweet-ish. 256 characters is maximum number of characters available to say anything. No adjectives no adverbs no sentences. Brief terse sometimes cryptic and with new idiograms.. It’s similar to telegram language of the 19th 20th centuries. Similar to Morse Code. No poetry. No lyricism. Nothing can be written that can’t be read on a smartphone screen. End of Chaucer. End of Shakespeare . End of literature. End of Language as we knew it in 17th 18th 19th 20th centuries. No one reads. People now only scan text and watch streaming video.Texting has aspects similar to ‘passing notes’ in class in K thru 6 grades.

The rise of a future Mid-21st post- texting 21st century language. Far more bizarre explanatory poetic metaphorical and far more florid. Much like the language the kids speak in the Mel Gibson Tina Turner film Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome

* The military becomes a lifeboat for the poor. Many young Americans, faced with McJobs no marketable skills and no $ for college, will choose to enlist. US military forces will grow larger.

* Increasing not decreasing social stratification. Delta Airlines will split its fares into five separate fare classes from super-cheap Basic Economy to First Class

* Continuing widespread American poverty. 22% of American families rely on church-operated food banks to get enough to eat. This includes 37% of black families. Only 46% of American kids live in traditional Mother/Father/Kids households. 41% of all US births now are to unmarried US moms.

* Crumbling US infrastructure particularly bad roads starting to affect the overall economy (What did those “shovel-ready” jobs do for us anyway?)

2/3 of US roadways are in need of major repair. We need massive US 1930s-style WPA programs more than we need to give away money in foreign aid.

* A new entry into the ranks of the homeless: Single-parent American families. A typical homeless family is a single mom in her late twenties with two kids and a monthly income of $645

* Gasoline to stay below $3 possibly even below $2 for the entire year. A result of petroleum excess supply and fewer Americans driving/owning cars, plus a petroleum war

* Increasing presence of on-board police patrolling public transportation. Armed police officer escorts in metro buses, on subways, on the BART

* A probable ebola vaccine this year that works. Ebola however is still a world-threatening problem. In addition HIV is still rampant and the spread of bacteria that are antibiotic-resistant and even antibiotic-proof continues. Ebola is actually far less of a problem than malaria unless the ebola virus mutates against us.

* More bans on smoking, this time, overseas. China has banned smoking in all public areas in Beijing. Increasing use of ecigarettes and ‘vaping’ worldwide. Cigars sales are steady and growing stronger once more.

* The failure of the US to deter Iran’s nuclear ambitions which means Iran gets nukes and the means to deliver them

* Africa to be increasingly colonialized and exploited just as it was in the 19th century but now by China India and Brazil plus former exploiter Europe.

* In Europe: increasing legislation against immigrants. The UK is already considering leaving the EU unless leaders allow Britain to restrict/rescind welfare payments to immigrants. This will happen as the Party, UKIP gains more popular support.

* The victory of ‘gay marriage’ over its opposition not just in the US but in various other parts of the world as well including some of Western Europe and much of Latin America, where centuries-old Catholic values are faltering.

* Russia in a bid to counter the drop in oil and gas prices, will attempt to control energy supplies to developed world of Eastern Hemisphere. Putin inked a $70 billion deal w China to build a gas pipeline. The planet’s largest-ever construction project.

Europe esp Germany can’t function without Russia’s natural gas. Russia’s South Stream gas pipeline diverted from Ukraine and instead through Turkey.

* China to continue to bid for control of 21st century world economy. China’s Premiere and head of China Communist Party are in top ten of Forbes’ annual ‘powerful’ list. China last year became the world’s largest economy. $17.6 trillion GDP. China buys 53% of the world’s annual gold production. This will eventually cause China’s money to eclipse the US dollar. Won’t happen in 2015, but will happen within this decade.

* The repatriotization/renationalization of gold assets by various nations. France wants its French gold out of the United States and back in France. Who else wants its gold brought home? Germany. Holland. Belgium. Azerbaijan. And several Latin American countries.

* The Swiss Banks to balk against US tax demands against banking secrecy in Swiss banks, popular clamor to give the IRS the finger gains steam.

* Colder than normal weather in the US. The snowpack in Russia’s Siberia-5.4 million square miles- is the biggest since 1967. Incoming US winds blow over this area and are iced down.

* The rise of Cloud Gaming. Strategy Analytics predicts that the PlayStation Now and Grid will grow from 30 million users by the end of this year to nearly 150 million by December 2015. The research group believes that this predicted growth will come from the upcoming surge of devices that have cloud-gaming capabilities: newer PCs, tablets and the PlayStation 4

* The vehicle revolution: Tesla comes of age and so do electric cars. Toyota markets a hydrogen-fueled auto. Ford brings aluminum-bodied vehicles into the mix. Harley-Davidson markets the LiveWire, an electric motorcycle

* The Euro will fall to $1.10- $1.12 this year. That does not mean the dollar is strong. Trillions created by the Fed and central banks are backed by nothing.

* Look for strong USA 2015 inflation: 6-8%. Gold will move into the 1400-1500 range. Interest rates start to climb up.

One thing we don’t know is what happens during a years-long era of near-zero interest rates. It seems to me this pushes equities indices, particularly US indices, artificially higher.

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!
