Outgoing Democratic Gov. Martin O'Malley said Wednesday that he will commute the capital sentences of the state's last four inmates on death row to life in prison, saying executing them "does not serve the public good of the people of Maryland."
Two years ago, the General Assembly abolished the death penalty in the state, making the ultimate sentence in new cases life in prison without the possibility of parole.
That left four previously sentenced inmates on death row. [...]

We’ve become a Banana Republic. Unable to execute justice while our society collapses under the weight of our national sins.
Justice delayed is justice denied.
Odds are some liberal judge would have entertained an Equal Protection case claiming that since the state had now abolished the death penalty those 4 were being treated “unfairly”.
Do you have a source for that quote?
Go research Nietzsche’s works. I can’t give an immediate citation and I’m too lazy to go through his books. I simply remember it. Thank you for recalling it and posting it.
Now that I think about it the Nietzsche translator that I follow may be named Walter Kaufman.
To hell with the laws, to hell with the citizens, to hell with the courts, to hell with the families.
This speck has decided that ‘he’ and ‘he only’ has the wisdom and judgement determine what punishment should be exacted.
Disgraceful is right.
Just wait and see what happens on 1/19/2017...
I would urge everyone to read Nietzsche as an Historian and social critic. He explicated the past in an outstanding summary form and foretold the future brilliantly. The philosopher of history Spengler based a lot of his book “Decline of The West” on Nietzsche’s works.
