In this raw, undated video from an unknown vessel we see how private security contractors aboard cargo ships might respond to a pirate threat.
We see at least two people opening fire on a skiff full of armed pirates who approach the ship.

So, what happens when these guys enter certain ports of call? What do they do with the weapons? In some of their ports, I'm sure there are copious rules and restrictions even if the populace outside of town is armed to the teeth. In any case, this is the way to handle open sea piracy.

Doh! At the end of the article it does say that in a lot of cases due to international law the contractors toss their weapons over the side before entering certain ports. Hopefully they don’t have to transit back past the same areas. What a load of crap that is having to toss your weapons like that.

The contractors probably cost about $1000 per day per man..so the price of the guns an ammo is incidental.

Heck, use a M-79 GR Launcher and send them to Davy Jones’ Locker.

Put them in containers on a mooring that is reachable and pick them up on the way back out

Common sense solution to a very basic problem.
Napalm or fragmentation rounds might be a response improvement on the pirates who pathetically go unchallenged as a rule.

You must not have looked at the article. It clearly discusses them dumping the weapons before they reach port.

LOL! Yeah, I did catch it and posted a response to myself. Kinda. DOH!

The security contractors have tenders. These tenders carry the weapons and ammo and bring the security contractor to the vessel for duty while they are making their passage through troubled waters. Another tender plucks them off the ship before they enter territorial waters. The tenders operate out of friendly ports, or transfer weapons to an at sea tender before entering port. Complicated, but workable.
One of these tenders had an emergency and had to enter an Indian port with weapons/ammo on board. There was a dust up, I don’t know how it was finally resolved.

Don’t toss the arms: use them as passports. Picture a fully armed unit moving to whatever passes as passport conrol. Nevermind, as much a foregone conclusion as the Dallas game Sunday. Couldn’t resist putting in a pitch for my team.
