He has been called the superman pope, and it would be hard to deny that Pope Francis has had a good December. Cited by President Barack Obama as a key player in the thawing relations between the US and Cuba, the Argentinian pontiff followed that by lecturing his cardinals on the need to clean up Vatican politics. But can Francis achieve a feat that has so far eluded secular powers and inspire decisive action on climate change?
It looks as if he will give it a go. In 2015, the pope will issue a lengthy message on the subject to the worlds 1.2 billion Catholics, give an address to the UN general assembly and call a summit of the worlds main religions.
The reason for such frenetic activity, says Bishop Marcelo Sorondo, chancellor of the Vaticans Pontifical Academy of Sciences, is the popes wish to directly influence next years crucial UN climate meeting in Paris, when countries will try to conclude 20 years of fraught negotiations with a universal commitment to reduce emissions.
Our academics supported the popes initiative to influence next years crucial decisions, Sorondo told Cafod, the Catholic development agency, at a meeting in London. The idea is to convene a meeting with leaders of the main religions to make all people aware of the state of our climate and the tragedy of social exclusion.
Following a visit in March to Tacloban, the Philippine city devastated in 2012 by typhoon Haiyan, the pope will publish a rare encyclical on climate change and human ecology. Urging all Catholics to take action on moral and scientific grounds, the document will be sent to the worlds 5,000 Catholic bishops and 400,000 priests, who will distribute it to parishioners.

I accept all of this, do you?
(54) Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen, I say unto you: except you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you. (55) He that eats my flesh and drinks my blood, hath everlasting life; and I will raise him up in the last day. (56) For my flesh is meat indeed and my blood is drink indeed. (57) He that eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me and I in him.
Are you familiar with the 30 year war?
The “Bible” is comprised of the OT and NT. Excluding them from the OT and NT and relegating them to Apocrypha means he excluded them from “the BIBLE”.
The Bible isn’t just anything you decide to include between the bindings.
Very, what’s your question?
The Bible isnt just anything you decide to include between the bindings.
Sound wisdom for Catholics to consider, much like doctrine made from men. On the subject, is this what you got? You know little of 'butchering'.
It is spiritual acceptance of Yeshua’s shed blood and broken body.
There is no pagan sun god cookie in there.
Where do you see Christ saying “Spiritual acceptance”???
He does NOT!
He says “THIS IS”
And He instructs us to do this “UNTIL THE LORD RETURNS”.
So what’s your point? No where in those passages does the Lord describe the process of a priest converting that bread and wine into the body and the blood of Himself. Transubstantiation is wholly unbiblical and a result of the general lack of faith amongst the Catholic theologians and the desire to have an explanation for miracles instead of believing them by faith.
I was raised Roman Catholic.
I felt something was very wrong with the religion, even back then.
I experimented with Judiasm when I found out my father (estranged) was Jewish.
None of those worked so I became a ‘generic Christian’.
Looks like leaving the RC church was wise, they have become pure liberals.
The one precipitated by the Catholic rulers attempting to stamp out protestantism in their lands? The one that devolved to where Catholic rulers warred against each other for territorial gains? Where the Catholic rulers ruled by fiat? That one? The one fought mainly in Germany and embroiled the kings and princes of Europe? The war following the St Bartholmew's day massacre where the Pope issued a commemorative coin?
Recognizing that the barley loaf represented his broken body IS spiritual acceptance of his sacrifice.
And you have not done it at all yet, so where will you be when he returns?
He does not give credit for pagan alternatives.
And doing it includes pronouncing the same priestly blessing of the Melek Zedek that he did at the last supper, just as all of his ancestors had done at every evening meal since Sinai.
.
“spiritual acceptance “
Where does He say that?
He said “DO”!!!!
Its for you to do, not some pagan monkey in a black dress!
It is for the believing man to do at every evening meal:
Take the barley loaf, then speak the blessing:
Blessed art thou Yehova Elohim,
Creator of the universe,
Who brings forth bread and wine on the earth.
[24] The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
[25] The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
[26] The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
(Numbers 6:24-26)
This is what Yeshua and his disciples and apostles did, and what we are to continue to do, until He eats the bread and drinks the wine anew on the sea of fire and glass at the wedding supper.
