First Sgt. Katrina Moerk, now the first sergeant of Charlie Company, 741st Military Intelligence Battalion, was browsing a social media network's community page earlier this year, when she came upon a video that she found offensive and sexist. When she commented as much, several respondents attacked her with insults. Some of these respondents were wearing uniforms in their profile photos, the first sergeant said, so she wrote to them directly.
"I looked them up, introduced myself and explained to them why they were stupid. And I [copied] the director of the Army SHARP program to help their units improve their SHARP training, because it was obviously lacking. And it's kind of blown up from there," Moerk said.
SHARP is the acronym for the military's Sexual Harassment Assault Response and Prevention program.
Online Backlash
This wasn't the first time Moerk had experienced online harassment, she said, but it was "the first time I've put my foot down, and was very adamant about correcting what was wrong with them."
For her willingness to stand up and defend Army values, Moerk received an Army Commendation Medal from Lt. Gen. James C. McConville, who succeeded Bromberg as the Army's personnel chief, during a ceremony Monday, at the Pentagon.

I would bet that it is in the general category of Special High-Intensity Training.
That’s half-pint from Little House on the Prairie.
Hopefully the ISIS is being brought up to snuff on their diversity training as well. I’d hate to think our soldiers would have to fight against an enemy that’s not respectful to all and caring of other’s feelings.
Here is an excerpt from one of her response posts.
1SG Moerk decided to add victim to her impressive resume, in a post where she reminds us that 1) she has reached her rank in less than 20 years, that 2) she has apparently been called names her entire Army career and 3) she holds that victimhood as a badge of honor, and she will heroically stand up to those meanies.
**”This is my lesson to my Soldiers. THIS is what the hard right looks like. This is what it looks like when you are retaliated against for doing the right thing. Break the internet with my name. Tell everybody ALL about me. I am showing my Soldiers what it means to lead by example, in word AND deed My Soldiers have my respect, and I have their loyalty. That is earned. Your petty shit, just makes my point. You cant bully me into believing that your actions are right. You cant bully me into believing that because I am a female I should be okay with this. You dont know ME. But if this is what it takes to keep you from attacking other people trying to do the right thing Bring it on.”**
LoL, had a few of those before. The instructor is always very serious and stern.

Dar Kommissar.
Sorry, we just have ourselves to ‘blame’.
We (me included) basically stood by and watch the transformation of the Military and its Mission and ‘filling of the ranks’.
I think a lot of us figured “let them have their fun now, when the SHTF the REAL Soldiers will stand up and save us from ourselves”
Problem is that between being ‘driven’ out for no more than NOT accepting this malarky and not being able to recruit the ‘virile’ youth that had held the Military together, ALSO because of this hostility that has been created.
Remember, a lot of us that Voluntarily Enlisted - before the draft ended - did so as a matter of ‘duty’ and ‘honor’ and because it was the ‘right thing to do’.
I joined at 17 to more or less get it ‘over with’ prior to being drafted in a couple of years. Also, the prevailing attitude was ‘it was the right thing to do’.
Of all of Clintons Fractured comparisons, His ‘Yes, I am a ‘draft dodger’ BUT so were thousands who enlisted to ‘avoid the draft’....
NOT a quote but a generalized comment he supposedly made, while in a sense very true BUT definitely the ‘bottom line’ was taken out of context.
Another of his great lines was “I was NEVER alone with Miss Lewinski in the White House...there was always a guard or something somewhere in the building.....
LET ME BORROW A PAGE FROM THE LIBS..
Although possibly not true that WJC mouthed the above statement(s), he would or could have had he thought about it.
“The hard right”?
Sarah Palin was attacked with all sorts of misogynist comments from the LEFT (c-word, b-word, rape jokes, tard jokes, and more).
This is the same US military that did NOT take action when Nidal Hassan was making Islamist death threats in public and elsewhere.
It would “harm” the diversity of our military and THAT was deemed to be a bigger tragedy than the loss of over a dozen lives.
Before you go blaming our Armed Forces for any of this crap, just remember they are all under the thumb of civilians, courtesy of our US Constitution.
Tickles me to see many freepers claim our military would never turn on us in a civil war....1861-65 apparently escapes them
You can always find folks in uniform to do the bidding of those in power
That is a lesson repeated over and over since Sargon the Great

Understand she also was so mad when she typed her response out that she broke a fingernail and her tears of frustration made her ruin her makeup.
Subsequently, she put in for and was awarded the Purple Heart. /sarc
Well the clip sounds distasteful to be sure. But what was the intent? Was it a joke or did it mean to label all women that way?
It seems to me that she was likely more offended by the comments toward her response. She was angry and wanted revenge. Internet forums can do that to a person. So she got her revenge and got a medal for it? Seems like overkill.
So she considers fellow soldiers to be the enemy. I wonder how she's going to feel when she meets ISIS on the battlefield...
Oh, wait. She doesn't go on the battlefield. She surfs the web looking for male enemy US troops.
Perhaps God has helped us. I suspect that the time will come when it becomes necessary to restore the US Constitution by force of arms. I further suspect that when that time comes, what leftover dregs remain of a once great US military will not be very effective at opposing same.
That was perfect!
My, how times have changed.
Some of the responses on the site are pretty good.
I’m not in the know, so what’s an ARCOM? Army Recommendation?
