-— What you say is in my case true....... down to a point. After decreasing to about 205, I ceased losing. My internals determined that is some sort of optimum and I cant get lower.
If I do, then in short order it returns and levels off again.

Not so strange. There is a lot of discussion about the so-called LCHF (low-carb high-fat) “plateauing” problem that some people experience. My wife defeated it by intermittent fasting. Others by skipping breakfast. Here are a couple of links that may help:
