Body cameras are not a panacea and can introduce other problems, as we are seeing in this case. Sometimes they do not work. Sometimes they are not turned on for whatever reason. Sometimes what they record is inconclusive. And thus they have the potential of introducing more, rather than less, doubt.

Al Sharpton, Eric Holder, the President and others who are politically and economically invested in falsely racializing incidents -- and thus sowing division within American society -- have successfully fanned the flames to the point in which black mobs are calling for lynchings based upon race rather than evidence -- and completely missing the absurd and tragic irony in this.

To what end?

It would seem that we are already at the point wherein even if the would-be perpetrator is caught on camera pointing a firearm at an officer, if he is not killed as he is supposed to be there will be riots, looting, threats to the officers' families and random racially motivated attacks upon innocents. Is the object to undermine confidence in local law enforcement so they are forced to abandon certain areas? Perhaps then an American version of La Guardia Civil takes over?

We already suffer under an administration that does not believe in equality under the law, so we would have a federalized constabulary in which law enforcement depends upon group identity and political connections rather than Rule of Law -- which is arguably dead already.

Is the next step declaring a State of Emergency, instituting Martial Law -- and perhaps suspending elections? How far does the destruction of our society need to go to appease those who lust for power?

The problem is that it is a tool that can be seen as manipulatable. Sometimes it’s on, sometimes it’s off. In this case, it’s introduced another element of doubt in an irrationally unbelieving mob.

Would he be alive today if the cop wore a camera? Nope. But, the boy would be the star in the latest snuff film. His parents and girlfriend could at least collected royalties.

What exactly is the “Black lives matter movement”? If this
“movement” really cared they would address the abortion issue that kills black babies instead of manufacturing a “movement” that suits their own ends.
But I guess the agenda always comes first no matter the cost of unborn lives.

This is EXACTLY the racial division and path to the blacks taking everything from the whites and then pushing the whites out that Rev Wright’s Black Liberation Theology teaches. Very muck like Alinsly too...rubbing raw the perceived injustices.

body cameras are a very very bad idea.

First place, we can see, even, and most notably, in the case of the NYC Mayor, that people will not see the truth when it is filmed in broad daylight if it doesn’t suit their ideology.

Body cameras see in an enclosed area. They don’t see 360 in every direction.
They’re not the solution.

IMO, that’s exactly the goal.

"The police officer who shot and killed a man on Tuesday in Berkeley, Missouri, was given a body camera but it was not activated at the time of the shooting"

According to an AP report, "Protesters rally for 2nd night after shooting near Ferguson":

The officer wasn't wearing his body camera, and his cruiser's dashboard camera was not activated because the car's emergency lights were not on, [St. Louis County Police Chief Jon] Belmar said.

Every generation has its version of Tyranny/Anarchy or freedom arguments.

In the 1970’s we had Kent State as the Apex of the Vietnam War. The “left wing” agitated the mind numbed dope smoking, long haired hippies.

The 1770’s had their answer to this type of Tyranny - Boston Tea party, Concord bridge - These peoples’ descendents moved on to party at Woodstock. They rebelled in Boston in the 1970’s when School busing was forced on the people of South Boston. Today they elect communists to socialize their medical care (Mit Romney, Patric Duval).

The Descendents of the American revolution, today they live in the South Eastern US and west to Texas, Oklahoma.

The rest of the country ????

The store camera was activated and shows the dead crook pointing a gun at the cop. One video is enough for me.

There is a relatively simple tech fix. Just attach a sensor to the gunbelt with a radio link to the cam. When the weapon is drawn, the cam comes on and records. This approach might also be applied to nightsticks, tasers, and similar.

I suspect after such technology has been implemented, the leftists would want it banned, 'cause it would show their babies actually committing crimes.

They want the only video to be the cop's video.

Then they'll claim you can't trust it because it's their video.

The only way to solve the “camera not on” problem is to require that LEOs only carry sidearms that have a bluetooth link to the camera.

Camera not on, gun not shoot!

Same for Tazers.

The gist of all this is that black thugs should be able to commit any crime they want. They lack the cultural competence to be held responsible for their actions, and cops should let themselves be beaten or shot, and otherwise look away. A body camera wouldn’t make any difference.
