To incoming Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), it is more important for Republicans to be the party of yes than go all-out to defund President Barack Obamas executive amnesty.
According to the New York Times, McConnell acknowledges that changing the mind-set of opposition in the next Congress will be crucial to advancing legislation that will attract Democratic support and force Obama into difficult choices over whether to sign measures pushed by his adversaries. The Times notes that is why his focus will be lawmakers he thinks he can meld into a governing coalition.
All of us from time to time make a point, Mr. McConnell told the outlet. But it is time now to make a difference.

And yes, “flippin” is the keyword here. A$$jack has been flippin for years.
Matt Bevin ran a ‘poor’ primary campaign against McConnell where the word ‘poor’ means not near as much cash as McConnell was given from his oligarch backers. By oligarchs I mean billionaires that control a lot of chain businesses, casinos, hotels, etc.
McConnell also engineered the ‘Kentucky Kickback’ which is a huge pork package for all the power players in KY politics.
Still Bevin managed to pull in more than 40% of the vote against a long-term incumbent party ‘leader’ with massive fund sources. That’s saying something.
Remember that up until the final moment the GOPe was not sure they had the mid-term election in the bag. They were actually thinking they could remain the minority in the Senate. But it was Obamacare, Amnesty and Ebola that caused a surge that wiped out democrats and McConnell is unfortunately the beneficiary. During this time of election outcome uncertainty there were prominent establishment GOP Senators who were muttering that if the election didn’t go well, then McConnell’s tactics would be ‘reviewed’ meaning they would consider firing him as their leader.
The Tea Party grassroots swept away the election knowing they would lose no matter what. McConnell or Reid, what difference does it make? It was posted here on FR thousands and thousands of times that it wouldn’t make any difference which party kept the Senate. Where the real difference exists is at the State level.
The Tea Party conservative frame of mind is still learning and improving its campaigns. And importantly it is improving its funding mechanisms.
Bottom line is McConnell’s days of influence are numbered. I see him carrying water for persons with too much money for the next year and then being exposed for the fraud he is in 2016, then retiring or being retired by 2020.
He is a problem for sure as he is entirely bought and paid for. He’s just fortunate to be from a state with an old political establishment with a voter base of intimidated persons who’ve been taught to shut up and do what they’re told. He’s a mediocre politician from a mediocre state and that’s now a problem for the rest of us.
> “In the general election I had opined that we should not support Mitch and there were more than a few around here who criticized that.”
That’s because it wasn’t a sure thing that the GOP would take control of the Senate. I and a few others openly posted that we wanted the GOP to have control and for McConnell to lose.
55 Senators vs. 54 Senators makes no difference.
60 Senators vs. 59 Senators
or
51 Senators vs. 50 Senators (Biden as tie-breaker)
does make a difference.
So McConnell benefited from the uncertainty.
The only Freeper argument I saw that had an ounce of merit was that if Grimes had been voted in, she would have been near impossible to remove. But that’s what was said about Landrieu too.
Anyways, Congress is pretty much lost for the next 2 years. Where the moving and shaking is starting to create a rumble is at the State level with ALEC (http://www.alec.org) and the Convention of States (COS) project (http://www.conventionofstates.com).
” McConnell is catering to the largest GOP donors such as:
Sheldon Adelson
Koch Brothers
Chamber of Commerce
etc etc etc
All the above want cheap labor so are pro-AMNESTY”
NAILED it!
” We all saw several overly dedicated Freepers scream, holler, accuse and demand we reelect this POS and his clones.
there is no way one can be even an occasional visitor to FR and not have known what these people would do. Hell, they PROMISED to pass amnesty if elected.”
I guess the brain-challenged, and the quislings missed this part.
” and that the EXEMPT GOP is wedded to ObamaCARE/RomneyCARE
... AND PROUD OF IT?”
YEP
All the GOPe did was ......
Finance their own future elections.
Fund Obamacare, and amnesty
Divide hundreds of billions of pork with the Democrats.
Went home for Christmas.
Sorry folks. You voted for the Vichy Republicans....the Uniparty, if you will. We were much better off as a minority opposition, as there is now NO opposition to evil, whatsoever!
As Travis stated “ The fix is in! “
Governing should never be done as a popularity contest. The Senate should not be run like the student council.
Som3e did for sure. Some were paid to miss it and others wanted it outright. Look at the threads. You have freepers defending the refusal to build a border fence, Freepers STILL TO THIS DAY pushing Romney and RandPaul, Freepers Fully supporting the Cuba giveaway. There are an awful lot of ‘staunch rock ribbed right wingers’ with some openly hard left positions. And they are given free rein to spew it all.
No, we are the Gruberites who keep electing them because we believe the UniParty lies.
Boehner has done everything necessary to make sure ObamaCare is funded, ask Michele Bachmann.
Well there are few sure things in life, but most polls showed that the Republicans where nowhere near the 50 and 60 seat marks. 52 to 54 seats I thought was a high probability.
Which is why I advocated that Kentuckians not vote for McConnell.
They already are, and because of the GOP-E domination of the process, most of them still win. It's what conservatives do AFTER the primary that matters now. Voting for the 'lesser of two evils' is still evil and it still enables the system that has shafted conservatives for years.
No, we the people will pay dearly, they never lose.
And Roberts will kill ObamaCare.
I say you don't have any choice in the matter. These UniParty thugs are not the dummies, we are.
Let’s just give up.
Mercy!!!!
LOL
100
Merry Christmas to ALL!
