A Jacksonville firefighter was injured in a shooting incident Tuesday night on the citys Southside when police say an unknown shooter in a vehicle targeted a group of about six firefighters.
Lt. Jackson Short of the Sheriffs Office said the firefighters were fueling a ladder truck behind Fire Station 28 in the 9200 block of Hogan Road at about 7:35 p.m. when a vehicle drove up and someone fired five or six shots, striking one of the firefighters in the arm after the bullet ricocheted.
It appears the firemen were targeted, Shorts said. Because they are firefighters, they were on duty and the area is very well lit from the streetlights at the gas pump area.
The car then sped off. Police did not have a description of the vehicle or the occupants.
Short said the firefighter was treated at the scene and not hospitalized.
Additional details about the incident werent available.
The shooting follows the ambush deaths of two New York Police Department officers and the shooting death of a Tarpon Springs police officer over the weekend. Also, Tuesday morning a Jacksonville police officer was shot at by suspected car thieves.
Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown said in a prepared statement Tuesday night that he was outraged and called the attacks in Jacksonville cowardly.

What the hell??? What possible beef does anyone have with firefighters??? Their job is to SAVE LIVES. Who doesn’t like that?
I don't believe that crap for one second.
They got a description of his tail lights...that’s all I’ve found thus far.
Timothy Sullivan...who is the brother who got shot and also a fighter, posted this on facebook...
“You can’t keep us down. My Brother takes a little shrapnel and is finishing his shift. We are the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Dept. If that was supposed to scare us from doing our job, you failed, asshole.

Tere was a spate of this years ago, in the 80s in St Louis, when idiots of color were setting trash bins on fire and then shooting the firemen as they came to put it out.
I guess the aim was to keep all government officials out of an area the gangs want to run down and control so that the people and businesses in the area have to pay the mob for protection.
Blacks re known to shoot t firemen in various places. Has happened here (Pittsburgh PA) at times, IIRC.
Revolutions always seek to make things worse and worse, just before the entire society implodes. This is what they are accomplishing by targeting the police and firefighters. Prepare, people: war is coming to our own soil.
Bet the commies are excited that their revolution is starting.
Wasn't that around the time Officer Naim was executed?
When the fires start in those black neighborhoods, instead of “hands up, don’t shoot”, start shouting “Burn baby, burn” as the fire trucks drive away. Perhaps the blacks will realize what happens when the screw over those that were there to protect them.
I have been known to pay the tab of firefighters at local eating establishments as a way of saying "Thank you". Down my area, most cops deserve a scooby for service to... The trick is doing it without letting them know who did it....
There's a 90% chance that I can accurately describe the occupants even though I am 1400 miles away from the shoooting scene.
IIRC during the ‘70 the “protestors of color and their allies” in Syracuse, NY would set homes on fire and then shoot at the firemen who came to save the neighborhood from going up in flames.
Why not? The firefighters were in a well-lit fueling zone. The shots came from the darkness, and a car sped off. How do you suppose that they could have gotten a description?

I work for the utility company in Jacksonville. We fuel our trucks at the same location, day and night. I see some policy changes coming on making sure that our vehicles are topped off before the sun sets.
He be outraged.
Is it possible to extend the fenced perimeter outward, or to put up visual barriers?
