Mayor de Blasio on Thursday made a final personal appeal to Democratic leaders in hopes of bringing the party’s 2016 convention to Brooklyn.
The mayor spent 90 minutes huddling with party chiefs at the Democratic National Committee headquarters in Washington.
“The reality is we have the safest city in America, we have tremendous enthusiasm for the convention and an outsanding host committee — people who are really ready commit resources and energy to making this a great convention,” de Blasio as he left.
“We think we can provide a really fantastic venue and we think it’s going to have a huge economic impact on the city.”

It is their idea of paradise, so why would they return?
Depends how desperate they are to rev up the minority vote. If they think the only way they're going to win in 2016 is to turn the election into a race war, then where better to get the ball rolling than in Brooklyn. They won't care if they risk a backlash and in the end, if they lose in 2016, the new GOP president will have to pick up the pieces.
The MO as of late seems to echo Michael Brown's father's comments: "Burn the b**** down."
East St. Louis would be a good place. Then again after this weekend Mall of America would be a good place to hold it.
Personally, I want it held in San Antonio. I could sell a ton of crap with double meanings to the idiots. #Hopeitchanges.
There you go...if they DON’T have it there it just proves what opportunistic racists the democrats are. Democrats aren’t “down” with minorities at all, they don’t even want them as a political backdrop.
The issue isn’t Brooklyn; it’s DeBlasio.
I have a friend who is knowledgeable about the many neighborhoods of Brooklyn. He says that although there was a generation long slide, now many neighborhoods are being rebuilt, gentrified, and occupied by young white and Asian professionals.
However, I think it would be great (for us) if the convention was held there. The symbol of the convention wouldn’t be Brooklyn, it would be the loud-mouth, uber-left Mayor DeBlasio and his freak family.
I think any of the three final choices will be very interesting to watch!
Brooklyn could be a very interesting choice, since shoddy police work is much like shoddy surgery and shoddy legal representation in that the result is mostly apparent well after the fact.
I attended a meeting in Philadelphia a few weeks ago -- the downtown was full of homeless people living in boxes and the streets stank of urine. It reminded me of pre-Giuliani New York. I suspect that the Philly PD's decline in morale is way ahead of the NYPD's.
Finally, I wonder if Columbus has enough prostitutes and drug dealers to satisfy the Democrat delegates. In any case, this should be interesting.
Oh please please please, Dems, have your preezy convention in Brooklyn. I remember Chicago ‘68 & its aftermath, would so love to see it again.
