That’s when California’s new regulations on egg-laying hens goes into effect.

No worries. The shortage and price increase will be very short lived. Georgia has a large poultry industry, and we will be honored to take up Californistan's slack.

We are a Right To Lay state.

In O! so many ways.

I guess it’s impossible in states other than California for farmers to increase production and produce more chickens for eggs. (snicker)

"Coming Egg Shortage Will Tax Family Budgets"

'Cause everyone knows that all of the eggs come from California and that California is the center of the universe.

Some retailers sell eggs at below wholesale and support the low prices with other product prices in order to keep customers (see info behind following link). Wholesale egg prices in California are expected to go down next week. Notice how much higher wholesale egg prices are in California compared to other states with greater production.

not to worry

egg production is an elastic activity. If the cost rise beyond sustainable levels in socialist california, production will simply move or grow elsewhere.

the fools in California will suffer

Californians have a hard time saying “NO” on propositions.

I don’t know why.

My parents had chickens inside city limits (Redding, CA) when I was growing up.

Does California even allow that anymore?

A month and a half ago, we drove from Kalifornia toward Phoenix, but diverted at Buckeye to avoid the metro area....along the semi-rural route we chose, we were surprised to see a couple of extremely huge “chicken house” operations; so some producers have already de-Kaliforniastaned.

So that's why I'm seeing long-derelict large-scale chicken houses being renovated and new ones being built here in NC. At one time, chickens were a fairly big industry here. Then, the local major producer, Holly Farms, was bought out by Tyson, in the late 80's I believe. All the local contract suppliers were shut down. Looks like they have a reason to start back up again, now.
