I’m surprised this hasn’t been highlighted on FR already. Egg prices have doubled in the last few weeks!

Good: more market for other states, normal, intelligent states.

Wish someone could come up with a way to hit these people economically. I have always felt that our local Humane Society has done a good job,but didn’t realize that HSUS was such a bunch of troublemakers.

Haven’t bought eggs in the grocery for nearly a year. Nothing like fresh, pastured eggs from your friend’s chickens.

This is ridiculous though. Gotta love the govt /s

This is exactly why we have a Commerce Clause to prevent a single state from blocking the America-wide free trade zone between all 50 states. Any affected citizen of a state other than California has standing.

If a guy who grew wheat for his own consumption is “in commerce” certainly a ton of state and local regulations must be.

She goes on to say that “a number of organizations including the Humane Society of the United States ... work on promoting veganism.

Uhh, no way! My health nut sister and law tried to trick us the other night by making what turned out to be some type of veggie burgers. She told us they were beef. No they we not! Terrible tasting. Threw them in the trash and had an all beef corn dog for dinner instead.

I guess I picked a good time to acquire 14 laying hens last summer. The great aspect is that chickens are basically vultures- they eat everything. That means that every table scrap, stale leftover, venison trimming, Halloween pumpkin, etc gets turned into fresh eggs (and great fertilizer for the garden)

And the push to force us all to become vegans continues. And that is eggsactly what this is all about.

” “The words ‘humane society’ may appear on its letterhead, but HSUS is not affiliated with your local animal shelter. “

I find that this is not well known. This group should be charged with fraud.

I got mine! A small flock gives us 6 eggs a day. If things get bad, I can take those eggs and place them in my incubator and have some chicks in three weeks.

But then, lots of people can’t do that. Sad.

I have a coop and will make a runbox late winter. If I coop 3-4 pullets, I should turn over a sustainable 3 eggs a day by summer.

If eggs are a staple in your family’s diet and you’d like to keep it that way, now would be a good time to get a few laying hens. Next month, beginning January 1, 2015, the chicken-and-egg production in the United States is in for a big shock. That’s when California’s new regulations on egg-laying hens goes into effect. And the effects of those regs on eggs will be felt nationally, even globally. The incredible, edible, prolate spheroid-shaped poultry product, which has long been one of the most affordable sources of high-quality protein, is certain to become significantly more expensive.

Oh, please. There's nothing to stop egg producers from moving to or springing up in free states, even if Kalifornia has been a major producer in the past. It would be better for their businesses anyway, and plus, who wants to fund fascism with their corporate and personal income taxes anyway? And that organic fertilizer HSUS is selling won't sell here, though I wouldn't mind seeing them waste their money trying.

First it was corn. Then, anything having to do with corn. Chicken went up. Beef is ridiculous. Then pork went through the roof. Now eggs. Next, air and water?

But the US Government inflation rate is near zero because it doesn't include necessities like food, fuel and taxes.

Why make the whole country suffer, don’t ship eggs to California.

And there’s nothing nobel about the vegan movement either, as they’re tied at the hip with the Population Control agenda.

Stifling the food and energy supplies are simply other tools, along with death panels and restricted access to medical care.

No need to pay for treatment if the diagnostic tests aren’t allowed in the first place.

Prediction:
  1. California eggs will be sold out of State.

  2. Eggs in California markets will come from out of State.

  3. Winners: Fuel producers and truckers.

  4. Losers: Low-income consumers.

Aldi’s eggs had been $1.49/ dozen for a while, then last week I noticed they were $2.29! Thought for sure someone used a 2 instead of a 1 by mistake. Didn’t get any because I had just got some at 4/$5 at Kroger.

We could raise chickens here, we have enough property and a bonus would be pissing off one of the neighbors. Should try to see what other animals is legal to have here in town. lol

Knew all of those free e-books about chickens might come in handy.
