Al Sharpton to have say over how Sony makes movies (Shakedown Street)

Coming to a theater near you: Al Sharpton.

Hollywood came to the Rev. Al Thursday as embattled Sony exec Amy Pascal met privately with the black leader for 90 minutes in a bid to fix the fallout from the cyberhacking leak of embarrassing, racially charged emails.

Pascal agreed to let Sharpton have a say in how Sony makes motion pictures, in an effort to combat what he called “inflexible and immovable racial exclusion in Hollywood.”

“We have agreed to having a working group deal with the racial bias and lack of diversity in Hollywood,” said Sharpton.

He said Sony would work closely with his National Action Network, the National Urban League, the NAACP and the Black Women’s Round Table to “see if we can come up with an immediate plan to deal with it.”

The meeting, held behind closed doors at the Greenwich Hotel, also included National Urban League president Marc Morial.

He was mum on the exact details of the plan to work with Sony but added, “We are not going to be satisfied until we see something concrete done.”

He also denounced the hackers, believed to be North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un’s henchmen, as bullies and called pulling “The Interview” from theaters in the wake of terror-attack threats a “dangerous precedent of real concern.”

“We are outraged by the bullying that is being done right before Christmas around this hacking,” Sharpton said.

Hummm... Somebody is missing from this Sony grievous committee!

Poor ole Jesse & his Rainbow Coalition!

...if only he hadn't said he wanted to cut Obama's balls off!

He'd have his own cable program & so many visits to the White House he's have his own room.

I will probably have to hang since the Vegas editor is a great product for the price. Pinnacle is sad. Premier is overkill and getting a mac for final cut isn’t practical or affordable for me.

I think it would be kinda funny to have Al Sharpton in charge of movie scripts. They’d be allowed to say “punk faggot” again. Fat black dudes in sweat suits would have a lot more leading roles. And the James Brown Hair style for black men would make a comeback.

I don’t understand why blacks aren’t upset over the way they are stereotyped in “black” movies and sitcoms. They are always portrayed as loud, obnoxious and good dancers.

Perhaps these types of roles have been audience tested and got the best responses? Since I doubt that black sitcoms have many white viewers, even liberal ones, maybe it's the way black viewers see themselves?

In all things, follow the money. Sitcoms (and other shows) are designed to maximize viewer eyeballs for advertising revenue.
