Probably the most dramatic reading on the Vietnam war, is the Army Special Forces fighting for survival at their tiny little SF bases with a handful of green berets and their indigenous troops, where they were always in danger of being overrun, and constantly being harassed and attacked.
Good example, Green Beret Captain Roger Donlon.
Nam Dong near Laos border, July 6, 1964. First Vietnam Medal of Honor recipient.
I met him at the Fort Benning PX in ‘66, my Ranger father intro’d me to him. He was a quiet, modest man.
They stuck these guys right in the middle of the ****.
Good reminder, thanks for that. It just goes to show if you do not decimate the enemy, their blood- thirsty families and everything they own.. more lives are wasted. I am ticked off, either let the dogs of war loose, or get completely out and never go back. No reason our troops should be fighting over their anymore. Too many lives and limbs lost over there already. No US troops in Iraq, or Ukraine, or Poland, or Saudi Arabia,Egypt... I know there are others. Obama has us in so many conflicts I cannot keep up.
Yes, it does have that flavor.
