The deputy speaker of the Swedish parliament caused an outrage by suggesting that Jews living in Sweden should ditch their identity if they wish to be considered Swedes.
The claim by Bjorn Soder, of the Sweden Democrats party, was made in an interview with a Swedish newspaper, according to the International Business Times.
In the interview, Soder said that "most Jewish people in Sweden left behind" their racial identity in order to assimilate.
He further said that it would be a problem if there were too many people in Sweden “who belong to other nations” and had non-Swedish identities. Paying immigrants to go home would also help to avoid “foreign enclaves” and instead “create a society with a common identity”, he said, according to remarks quoted by The Guardian. …

I don’t doubt for one second that it was taken out of context. Soder belongs to the new political party that is equivalent to Britain’s UKIP party. The pro-Muslim Swedish establishment is doing all they can in their attempts to discredit that party as it RAPIDLY gains in popularity and threatens their rule.

He and his party have called for the banning of Islam within Sweden as a subversive force. They are strongly conservative, and described by many as nationalists.
He is not in the ruling party, but holds a high position as the leader of a minority party which was needed to establish a coalition majority.
He has not called for the banning of Judaism, he has called for Swedish Jews to be Swedish first.
I’m not familiar with all of his views, but few on FR complained when the same party called for the relegation of Islam and deportation of the Mohammadens.
He sounds just like a stateside Democrat.

Judging from the comments on this thread, it’s clear that this “hit piece” is effective and is succeeding in misinforming the readers. The Swedish government and policies of its ruling political parties are the ones that are pro-Muslim and anti-Israel. The person (Björn Söder) and the party (Sweden Democrats) stand against the multiculturalism that they feel (correctly in my view) is destroying Sweden. Right now, almost any Muslim that asks for asylum in Sweden is granted PERMANENT residency. The Sweden Democrats want to end that policy by reducing it by 90% and by making the “asylum” only for 3 years instead of permanent.
“Strongly conservative” in what respect? Remember, the Church of Sweden only got disestablished fourteen years ago.
Swedes need to figure out that the Jews aren’t their problem, the raghead muzzies are.

The Sweden democrats opposed the recognition of Palestine, and it is likely to earn them seats in the next election according to some of the euro papers.
These guys have been branded as Sweden’s neo.Nazis because of their strong nationalist Sweden first platform.
Again, I don’t know all their positions, but they seem to be taking a lot of heat over their anti Islam and anti Palestinian stances. They supposedly don’t mind Judaism, but believe that allegiance to Sweden over Israel should be expected.
They had their website shut down by their version of the FCC when they published a Mohammed cartoon to support freedom of expression during the whole newspaper Islam cartoon kerfuffle.
