What he driving a pre-owned vehicle?
Victoria is about as much a suburb of Houston as Moline is a suburb of Chicago. It’s about a 2 1/2 hour drive down US 59.
Not the way to treat people, especially someone old enough to be his Grandad. Some older folks are physically pretty tough, while others may fall easily and break a bone, which can effect them negatively for the rest of their lives.
Maybe there should be a Boxing or Karate Club for Police, who need to get rid of the excess energy.
Guilty!
He did not show the proper respect to the authority.
(do I really need a sarcasm tag?)
Vasquez was driving a vehicle owned by the car dealership where he works. Officer Robinson pulled him over when he noticed the vehicles inspection sticker had expired. When Vasquez exited the car and attempted to show Robinson the dealer plates which wouldve exempted the necessity for up to date inspection tags thats when the altercation happened.
When are these peasants going to learn that there's BAD consequences for "refusing to obey police"?
Even if the polices are wrong. "He feared for his authority".
LOL! :)
That's like calling Laramie, Wyo. a suburb of Denver.
Good on the bystander in the black cap who told the cop off and stayed around to tell his side of the story.
The driving distance from Victoria, Texas to Houston, Texas is: 126 miles / 203 km
The officer, Nathanial Robinson, 23, was placed on administrative duty Friday pending the outcome of an internal investigation into whether he violated the use of force policy when he tased Victoria resident Pete Vasquez, said Chief J.J. Craig. The officer was hired after graduating from the police academy two years ago.
23 year old kid with only 2 years on the force. Go figure.
Those in Texas better be polite and obey and comply to those in government.
This video make that inordinately clear.
Saw this yesterday.
That kid is a real dick and shouldn’t be a cop.
There was zero reason for his escalation and violence.
That and was materially wrong for the stop, as the victim was not charged with any crime or infraction.
Stupid enough that the kid’s boss went to the victims home and personally apologized for what happened.
“Hands up, don’t taze me bro”
Another Democrat cop. No inspection sticker means the state didn’t get their renewal money so this is a crime against the state! A beating to this enemy of the state! And BTW do they actually arrest for an expired INSPECTION? Is Victoria, Texas run by libs? Here in New york city as we have seen, they arrest you if someone bums a cigarette off you and gives you a quarter. NOTHING will stand between the state and it’s MONEY! There’s a lot of illegals and welfare breeding cows that Democrats can bribe for votes so every cent counts!
It was reported that the cop had the radio volume high as to make it impossible to record his conversations.
Police dashboard camera video shows Robinson arresting Vasquez for the expired sticker.
...
It wasn’t necessarily an arrest at that point. As part of a Terry Stop, the officer may place a person in handcuffs. This would have been legitimate if Vasquez was being belligerent.
From http://www.legalupdateonline.com/4th/45
Exceptions: The use of firearms, handcuffing, a non-consensual transportation, and/or putting a subject into a patrol car, if necessary under the circumstances, particularly if precautions are taken to make sure that the person knows he is only being detained as opposed to being arrested, or when the use of force is necessitated by the potential danger to the officers, may be found to be appropriate and does not necessarily elevate the contact into an arrest. (See People v. Celis (2004) 33 Cal.4th 667, 673-676.)
This is infuriating.
Hard to imagine that old man took the cop to the ground. More likely the cop dropped them both down so he could do his nastiness out of view of the dash cam.
Cops have lost their minds. Listen to the crap this officer is listening to... Clue #1
I hate them damn polls to. I don't know how many times I've almost knocked my head on one.
The real question is whether the officer had a legitimate reason to grab Vasquez’s left arm:
1) Was it legal?
2) Was it following department policy?
