ARLINGTON, Va. Alan Gross has called himself a trusting fool for going to Cuba in the first place. Family and friends described him with other words: gregarious and outgoing, with a talent for picking up and playing any musical instrument.
Gross, 65, was freed from prison Wednesday as part of an agreement that included the release of three Cubans jailed in the United States, officials said.

Ah, so that's why Obama wanted his release; a fellow commie traveler.
“While in Cuban custody, he lost more than 100 pounds, developed problems with his hips and lost most of the vision in his right eye. “
So much for Cuba’s public-option health system.
trusting fool indeed
Do they call it Castrocare?
Trusting fool is right.
Going to a totalitarian country, a place which tightly controls information given to its citizens, so as to set up internet access, sounds like a very risky job.
Obama must just be looking for excuses to release foreign prisoners. We always get one and give multiple. Cuba also gets normalized trade relations. This says staged farce if ever anything did.
Here comes Mariel, Part Deux.
What the hell did this guy think would happen in a COMMUNIST country?
Just heard a brief ABC radio clip of this guy.
1. He’s from Maryland suburb of WDC
2. He was in Cuber while working from O State Dept. ( Not clear yet exactly what he was doing)
3. He’s an ‘effing Dem stooge One Worlder, kumbaya singing, amoral idiot.
4. He referred to his imprisonment as “tenure” WTH?
We traded a 180 degree change of course in our long standing Cuba policy for a pos no better than the deserter Bergdahl. What a sharp negotiator our Obama.
Oh, and he ended his speech with, “...(His)need for total privacy, (from press), claro?”
“and passed the time reading books and magazines sent by his wife. The Economist, The Atlantic and Washingtonian were favorites.”
Interesting how the castro regime allowed him access to those publications.
Well I hate Obama getting the credit for this but it should have happened 40 years ago. I’m from Florida, I grew up in Florida and lived in Miami for many years. The Republicans should have normalized relations with Cuba long ago and then flooded them with American goods. The regime would have been gone years ago. The truth is that the GOP has been held hostage by the S Fla Cuban expatriates for decades who always supplied a reliable conservative voting block.
“trusting fool”...in other words, a liberal.
how do I know he was brought up by Marxists parents.
Bet he doesn’t vote Democrat next time.
A Marxist leaning Pope blessed the Marxist American president embrace of Castro's genocide communist regime condemning the Cuban enslaved people to eternal damnation. On the deal Castro liberated an American illegally imprisoned in Cuba in exchange for the freedom of three Cuban spies serving prison terms in U.S. and the normalization of relations with a country that occupied for decades a top position in the list of the State Department s terrorist countries.
The Cuban regime tried to obliterate New York and Washington with a nuclear attack during the October Missile Crisis of 1962. In November 1962, the Castro brothers and Che Guevaras agents had targeted Macys, Gimbels, Bloomingdales, and Manhattans Grand Central Station with a dozen incendiary devices and 500 kilos of TNT. The Holocaust was set for detonation the following week, on the day after Thanksgiving. (Humberto Fontova)
Castro has been a strong ally of Islamic terrorism. Cuba continues to serve as a base for coordination and mutual support among transnational terrorist organizations. At Tehran University he stated to the thunderous applause of students and faculty, "The imperialist king will finally fall, (AFP, May 10, 2001). Immediately afterward the Iranian Press Service proudly proclaimed that "Iran and Cuba reached the conclusion that together they can tear down the United States. (IPS, May 10, 2001).
It is suicidal turning a blind eye to Castro, a deadly enemy at 90 miles south of Key West that does not hide his hatred for U.S.
To complete Obamas betrayal of the American people, with the normalization of relations comes the opening to Cuba of the American and International bank credits that will sustain the Cuban regimen passing to the American taxpayers the same heavy burden that helped to bankrupt the Soviet Union.

I hate to burst your bubble but the US has had diplomatic ties with Cuba all along. They don’t call it an Embassy its a “Diplomatic Mission” in downtown Havana fully staffed 24/7 365. So now we will name an ambassador and build an Embassy and all the folks at the “Diplomatic Mission” will move over to the Embassy.
Its a lot easier to keep Russian and Iran out of Cuba and Cuban activities if they are being flooded with American goods and services. The Cuban people will prosper and you will see this regime implode.
So much for Cubas public-option health system.
My first thought also. Funny the writer never brought it up.
Im from Florida, I grew up in Florida and lived in Miami for many years. The Republicans should have normalized relations with Cuba long ago and then flooded them with American goods.
The regime would have been gone years ago. The truth is that the GOP has been held hostage by the S Fla Cuban expatriates for decades who always supplied a reliable conservative voting block.
So we should just forget and forgive the confiscation of American assets and those of the Cubans who are now citizens?
I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale and giving that bastard Castro a win makes me want to puke.
Working for the State Dept. ... Wonder if he wasn’t collecting salary this whole time.
