The American Catholic Church has paid a very high price for this and many have stopped attending
If the American church (the usccb) would crack a catechism and read an encyclical and tgen act obedient, they could count on a remnant but as it is much abandonment of principles has occurred and has bankrupted it in many ways
It coincides with what’s going on with the abandonment of the constitution since the same time which coincides with the docial and cultural acceptance of the practice of birth control
In the western world and in the church- not officially but in deed
