HARRISBURG - Philadelphia prosecutors plan to announce criminal charges Tuesday against two more elected officials ensnared in the undercover sting investigation that state Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane rejected as too flawed to prosecute.

District Attorney Seth Williams is expected to announce charges against State Reps. Vanessa Lowery Brown and Ronald G. Waters, both Philadelphia Democrats, for allegedly accepting cash from an undercover operative, according to people familiar with the matter.

Waters' attorney, Fortunato Perri Jr., said he was making arrangements for Waters to turn himself in Tuesday morning.

Perri said he expects Waters will face felony charges of conflict of interest and bribery, but declined further comment.

She was AG before he was convicted. She did not even convene the Grand Jury that investigated him, Corbett did. Sandusky had nothing to do with the rise or fall of her fortunes.

That's right. Way back when she was first elected she claimed to be pro-life. Pennsylvania runs pro-life, pro-gun Democrat and Dems who take those positions will often win in both state wide and in local offices in the middle of the state.

She's long since outed herself as a party hack and she needs to go.

Corbett ticked off the teachers’ unions something fierce. Philadelphia as a whole saw Corbett as the Devil. Also, he was weasley on Obamacare. His loss was simple - He ticked off his base while simultaneously riling up his opponents.

My mistake. She was elected for the first time in 2012. My mind’s playing tricks on me.

Great news! The Obama administration will remain aloof, I’m sure. ;’)

Good thing you caught the redundancy before it descended into full-blown pleonasm. ;)

"Latino" should always be shown in scare quotes, since it is a) political bs, b) cant, and c) not a word in the English language (some liberal acti-Rats have snuck it into some Wiki "dictionaries", thus debating the word "dictionary").

FReepers, please don't use "Latino" as if it were an English word.

BTW, the word doesn't, in my little Spanish dictionary, mean what its Stateside users intend it to mean (herewith invoking famous movie quote about semiotics).

Addendum to my last:

Autocorrect (which I call "Spell**cker") was responsible for replacing the word "debasing" with "debating". This is a constant battle when using an Android device. Apologies for the oversight.

....”FReepers, please don’t use “Latino” as if it were an English word”.....

Well here ya go:

Hispanic–Latino naming dispute
The Hispanic/Latino naming dispute refers to the ongoing disagreements over the use of the ethnonyms Hispanic and Latino to refer collectively to the inhabitants of the United States who are of Latin American or Spanish origin, i.e. Hispanic or Latino Americans is a vast group. The usage of both terms has changed and adapted itself to a wide range of geographical and historical influences.

Hispanic is a term that originally denoted a relationship to ancient Hispania (Iberian Peninsula). Now it relates to the contemporary nation of Spain, its history, and culture; a native of Spain residing in the United States is a Hispanic. Latino refers more exclusively to persons or communities of Latin American origin. While there is a significant overlap between the groups, Brazilians are a good example of Latinos who are not Hispanic. Both terms were meant to refer to ethnicity, not race; however, in the U.S., they are often used haphazardly to refer to race as well.

and here again....

Hispanic refers to language.
Latino refers to geography.

Basically, you are Hispanic if you and/or your ancestry come from a country where they speak Spanish. You are Latino if you and/or your ancestry come from a Latin American country.

But wait… isn’t that the same thing?
No, dear friend, it’s not.

Hispanic excludes the nearly 200 million Brazilians who, while accurately labelled Latinos, speak Portuguese. They are Latinos, they are not Hispanic.

Hispanic includes the nearly 50 million Spaniards (population of Spain) who could never be called Latinos.

When picking which one to use you have to know what you’re trying to say. For HispanicHouston.com we used language as the guide, and we ended up with Hispanic instead of Latino. A weird decision if you consider that we also decided not to have the site in Spanish. (But that’s another soapbox for another day.)

So, as a Mexican American, I am Hispanic and Latina. Brazilian Americans are Latinos but not Hispanic. And, Spanish Americans are Hispanic but not Latinos.

Is that clear as mud now?

But only in Spanish and Portuguese, not in English. English is English, not Spanglish. I understand Spanglish, but it isn't English because I understand it.

Latino is how they self identify in SoCal. You won’t hear ‘hispanic’ being used by La Raza.

I’m just going by what my La Raza homies call themselves. They use latino/latina and rarely, if ever, use hispanic.

Of course their idea of what is proper naming etiquette is a study in itself. Every Asian of any sort, whether Japanese, Filipino, Vietnamese, Chinese, Cambodian, or Laotian, is a ‘Chino’. I get to belong to the once large and now vanishing group known as ‘white people’, of which they have many amusing theories. But when it comes to sorting out the many subgroups from south of the border they are pretty good at that, and while the gabachos (white people again) think everyone is a Mexican the homies know better. Don’t call a Guatemalan a Mexican or you might start a war.

“.however I think if your Mexican then you’re Hispanic if your ancestors are from Spain?”

Well I know one family where some of the kids look Mestizo and some could pass for Spaniards. One of the brothers was putting on airs and his madre said “You’re no Spaniard! Your cord was cut in East L.A.!” East L.A. being of course one of the outer provinces of Mexico norte.
