Our mascot was the “Red Devils” and we thought nothing about it being connected with Hades. It derived from a term that came about after a practice session played on a red clay field in the early 1930s. Someone on the sideline said “Look at those little red devils.” Someone who heard the remark thought the term “Red Devils” would make a great mascot name and it did.

I was visiting the Little Bighorn Battlefield in Montana on June 25, the anniversary of the [massacre, battle, victory -- take yer pick] and was very amused to discover a large number of militant Indians wearing Fightin' Whities tees. Apparently they didn't get the memo that the attempt to make Fightin' Whities perjuritive had FAILED EPICLY, and that the t-shirt maker had been swamped with orders.

You can only be offended if you give other people power over your emotions. It's a dumb thing to do.
