Yeah, something sounds very odd about this. What landlord would ever do something to generate this kind of negative publicity?

And if the landlord can simply double the tenant's rent on short notice like this, then clearly there must be a lot of people clamoring to live in this place.

Stupid landlord! IF they are married, then he is a protected class under the Federal if not the State FHA. You can not discriminate for “familia”. Nice lawsuit.

A landlord wouldn’t, but the media likes to leave out pertinent facts so their watchers become emotionally enraged and will tune in to their broadcast to watch their Viagra commercials.

Apartment complex was built catering to students...rent is per person per bedroom. Appears to be no clear rules when it comes to married couples and a kid!
