Will video kiosks work for $15.00 per hour?
Some of us will make it, some of us won't.
For some reason McDonald’s changed their policy and now give the drive in window customer great service and leaves the walk-ins standing there.
That’ll work.
I used the one at a Mexican restaurant, Abuelos, and found that there was a $1.00 charge to learn how to sift through the stuff, and another $1.00 charge to use it to pay the bill. And then the waitperson still expects a tip????
Sheetz is awesome. They had the touch screen system back when I lived up there in the early 2000s. Very simple and quick.
Getting to speak to a ‘sandwich artist’ at Subway sort of lost its luster after that.
Anyone have a Big Mac in the past 15 years?
The patties are approaching the size of a 50c piece.
And Mcfries and a 5c worth of soda and pony up your $7.50
Mmmmm Mmmmm...
Years ago a big convenience store chain in my town replaced its older female (American) deli workers with imported Hispanics; you would touch a screen to construct your sandwich, and the “replacement American” across the counter would make the sandwich (without a word). As far as I can tell, it is either showing up in Spanish or with pictures (since many of the replacement Americans from south of the border are illiterate in Spanish as well).
They were the low-cost alternative to American workers...
McDonald’s is in the process of installing this type of system now.
For some reason McDonalds changed their policy and now give the drive in window

***************
Depends upon location but somthing like 60%+ of their sales
comes from the drive-thru window.
Don’t care, 20 people standing in line with ONE cashier is BS. Happens all the time, while the drive through hums along.
Perhaps they should pay some attention to the food.
“Nobodys job is totally secure. Now if we could just cause John Benedict Boehner to lose his!”
The scary thing is that this trend is moving up the list; whereas imported Hispanic “replacement Americans” took low-skilled jobs initially, the Asian invasion that occurred in tech is now spreading quickly in the financial sector. Lots of names from the Indian subcontinent now; all of the middle-aged and older Americans are disappearing from directories.
Very scary...
Guys with degrees in electronics will be fixing the terminals for $12 hr.
It is happening NOW.
The south has Pilot.
Pilot/Flying J is a truck stop, with a franchise fast food restaurant in the same building. Not equivalent at all, even though they’ve begun mimicking Sheetz on store design.
“I went to my last McDonalds some time ago.”
So did I. My reason is because they support killing babies in the womb.
I have been to Sheetz, it aint that special.
Though it is clean and well run.
Cheap gas.
Lamentable name.
Every one I’ve ever been to has been very busy, so they’re doing something right. It’s a family business, I support that even if they are Pennsylvanians. At least they’re from central PA so they’re about as close to southern as you’ll get north of the Mason-Dixon line. Pennsyltucky.
I absolutely believe it.
In the financial sector big firms have been importing auditors and such, while American accountants work as Wal-Mart greeters...
I don’t know how to guide my children in terms of higher education (and the point is nearing where it needs to be addressed); anyone earning over $40K (in any field) has forces scrambling furiously behind the scenes to either move the job overseas or move the overseas population here to do it for less. I went to college decades ago (before the “information supehighway” was completed), and don’t know if the investment of time and money would be worth it today.
