This bill actually has removed money from several particularly odious things (the IRS, for example) and has limited others to funding through February, 2015, since by then there will be a new House and a new Senate, and these issues can come up again.

It’s surprising that they were able to pass it, because Pelosi was saying the Dems would refuse to vote for it. Guess Pelosi ain’t what she was.

The Dems realized that if they didn’t pass it, they’d be the ones accused of shutting down the government (which is what Obama threatened).

It’s certainly better than I thought it would be, and the key thing is that it really provides only temporary funding to things where we don’t have the numbers to get it through - or override a veto if we do - until the new legislature is sworn in.

Thank you. It seems most haven’t read it at all. DHS is only funded through March to allow amnesty to be dealt with. Several agencies took real hits, the EPA for one. I am happy they passed a budget, definite public relations plus (except here), and some very nice cuts or restrictions.
