As Democrats took sharp aim at the White House over a year-end spending bill, President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden scrambled to stave off a revolt from congressional liberals over a deal that no one in the West Wing or the Democratic Party really wants.
Obamas base says hes sold them outand didnt even wait to do it until Republicans officially expand their majority in the House and takeover the Senate come January. Some on the left are worried the wide range of policy riders in a spending bill is a worrisome sign as Republicans take over the Senate next year and are already urging Obama to steel himself and ready his veto pen.
As the spending bill lurched unsteadily through Congress, the populist wing of the party has felt no hesitation about ripping a bill that the president wants to pass.
A vote for this bill is a vote for future taxpayer bailouts of Wall Street, said Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) just a few minutes earlier on the Senate floor. It is time for all of us to stand up and fight.
Democrats dont want it in, Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) told POLITICO. I dont know a Democrat that wants it in at all.
The whole bill needs to go, said Democracy for America spokesperson Neil Sroka. Though he said the Dodd-Frank and campaign finance elements stood out the most, the legislation is a right-wing fever dream and anyone who calls themselves a Democrat has no business voting for it. If the GOP wants to pass it, they should own it, soup to nuts.

And BINGO was his name!
Warren is setting the stage for the 2016 presidential elections. The narrative has begun, and the Democrats are going to return to their populist, lunch-box, working-man roots. Yes, we know their full of beans and their still elitists, but populist issues are going to play big in 2016. The Dems are hemorrhaging the white blue-collar and middle-class vote.
They’ve polarized themselves to the point where they can’t agree to kick the can down the road.
Democrats were for this bill until we stopped Boehner from strong-arming support from even the ‘moderate’ Republicans.
Then... and only then....
The media says the Dems opposed it LOL!
The House Dems are finally irrelevant.
You mean a populist ‘bloc’ it certainly seems at least a little possible.
Oh yeah. Libs have gotten nothing they’ve wanted...( eyes rolling)
LOL, Fools Obama was only ever with Obama
When Momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy. It’s disappointing to hear the Democrats saying that they have a pretty good deal on the table. It’s encouraging to see the loonie lefties kicking out of harness. The problem is that the Republicans have a pretty weak hand until the new Congress convenes.
The Republicans politicians are scared to death of a government shut down and are all convinced that they will lose their house on the lake if they stand up to the Commiecrats. I am reminding my Congresscritter and Senators about what we said in November. Pat Roberts, for one, seems to have gotten the message, although for some unknown reason he apparently got himself onto the TSA no fly list.
Liberals, the One didn’t abandon you, he left you behind. Ignorance was not your salvation.
So when Ted Cruze opposes a funding bill he threatens the stability of the entire global financial system for pure political gain, but whe Fauxahantis and the rest of the Dems do it, its for selfless and noble reasons ....
“When Momma aint happy, aint nobody happy.”

I have that quote hanging in my house. :-)
.
LIBs are insane. RINOs are insane. Kabuki reigns.
The only thing the word “scrambled” and “Biden” have in common is his “brain”.
