What's a Fudd?
A Fudd (from Elmer Fudd, the cartoon character) is a gun person who is a member of the NRA but whose only concern is hunting. And nothing else. All Fudds care about is that they be allowed to keep their hunting firearms. Glocks? Black rifles? AKs? They're embarrassed by those 'gun nuts' and their 'arsenals.' They think those wackos give the NRA a bad name. They don't believe anyone but cops need a pistol that holds 17 rounds or a rifle that holds 30. Go ahead, ban handguns and ARs. Whatever. They couldn't care less. Fudds believe the second amendment is there to protect their right to go deer hunting. They'll fight tooth and nail against anyone who dares try to take their deer rifle or shotgun! In the end, though, they'll agree to register their rifles and pay a yearly fee just so long as they get to go hunting this fall.
That's many of your fellow Republicans.
The purpose of the 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting or even self defense. Those two things are a bi product of the 2nd Amendment, not it’s primary purpose.
Personally I’m about ready to cast my 2016 vote for Lizzie Warren. Let the Chamber of Commerce feel my pain.
I know.
Fudds are hunters who pretty much agree with modern liberals about the second amendment.
There are many more of them than people realize.
These people are going to be thrown out of office in the next election or two.
If they want to be Democrat Lite, no point in keeping them around; we might as well have the real deal.
The GOP establishment is looking to get burned. Like the Democrats, they think the American people are stupid.
And you know as well as I do, a party that makes fools out of people is going to find itself full of regrets.
Boner and McConman should understand power and glory are fleeting.
Crickets, until Mitt decides to run again, then we’ll be blamed for President Hillary.
IMO the headline misstates the issue...the “GOP leadership” was NEVER with us.
I have to believe that Senators Sessions, Cruz, Lee, Vitter (and hopefully at least 20 others) are strategizing with their House counterparts (Gohmert, Chabot, King, Duncan, Blackburn and over 100 others) on ways to outflank their "leadership" over this capitulation.
In the last special election in England, UKIP won with 42 percent of the vote by taking 2/3 of the vote away from the Conservatives and 40 percent of the vote away from the Labour Party.
A new party that appeals to people in both big parties and independents would have a shot at tearing this edifice of business as usual politics down.
The big parties use personal emotional attacks with the GOPe waving Gruber in front of us while they pass an over the top spending bill.
Obama keeps troops in Afghanistan and sends them to Iraq again making the Left unhappy and so he dredges up George W. Bush as a whipping boy with a waterboarding report to give his base voters an emotional diversion.
This is how the big party political system works in this country. Two machines putting out propaganda to divert their base voters attention from their failure to deliver the changes their base voters want on issues.
I am going to make a point of remembering what a “Fudd” is - I meet too many of them in my travels.
That name will be used far and wide.
The next line to that song is "won't get fooled again".
“IMO the headline misstates the issue...the GOP leadership was NEVER with us.”
In 2015 we will be told they can’t have a budget showdown because 2016 is a presidential election year and winning the White House is too important to risk the press blaming them for shutting down the government.
In 2016 we will be told we can’t have a government shutdown in an election year.
In 2017 . . . .
blacks are being manipulated to protesting "police brutality" while invaders are taking their jobs and replacing them as the most significant minority in the US.
Indeed. They like to be this waterfowl managed by the state, bringing in illegals and diversity... it is disgusting.
Since they can’t deliver Darren Wilson’s head on a plate, the Obama and Company Democrat machine diverts their base voters attention towards other cases like Eric Garner and the 12-year old with the toy gun in Cleveland and speak in general terms about a “race” issue in America and “militarized police”.
We’re not “fooled”, and we’re electing conservatives, but the “machine” is firmly in place and is going to be difficult to dismantle.
A long time ago.
