The guy driving it was a local. They came back with the tanks manned by farm boys from distant provinces and they mowed anybody down who stood in their way.

Instead, wait. And wait. And wait. At some point, they have to come out of that MRAP. They will be tired. Not itching for a fight anymore. Just wanting to go home. They will want to be anywhere but inside that MRAP - they wanted a fight. They wanted to hurt people. Not sit in a cramped, smelly MRAP without food or water. Make them stay in it. Don't fight them while they're in it. At some point they have to come out.
