This death may be another in the series of banker suicides. An unusual number are cases of plunging from heights - this is not a common way for privileged men to kill themselves.

...this is not a common way for privileged men to kill themselves. Do you have any data on how privileged men kill themselves?

I think the guy with the nail gun worked for a title company, but hey . . . if conspiracies are your thing . . . I’m the murderer.

Surviving relatives include his nephew, the only other family member at home at the time.

Another one? How many does that make - 63? I read about another several days ago.

They are more likely to take a fatal overdose, or use a handgun. I don’t have statistics for upper-class men in the Western world, but an Indian study of attempted suicide noted that: “Finding showed that there are no significant relationships between sex, age, marital status, frequency of attempted suicide and their social class. But there is significant relationship between methods of suicide and social class.”

In other words, when you stated “this is not a common way for privileged men to kill themselves,” you made it up.

Forum member Nachum has a list, with links, of some of the most notable cases. I hope he will post it here. We should be informed. It is tragic, and also quite mysterious.

No, I have read several studies (I do not have them by me), which document how means of suicide vary from one social class to another, and one nationality to another.
For instance, plunging from a height is rare among socially privileged Westerners, but is a common form of suicide among Chinese in Hong Kong.

Jeeze, is anyone else thinking of The Omen? Apparently Dagnabitt is. He posted a pic which would give anyone the chills.

You use the words "rare," and "common," with no apparent understanding that the suicide rate for Chinese jumping off buildings might be greater than average.

All those rich stockbrokers who jumped out of their Wall Street high rise offices on Black Tuesday 1929 were, privileged up until that day.
And for those who referenced the OMEN? Balderdash!!

I didn’t quite get the Omen reference given things from atop fell upon the victim...

Not to be macabre (wait — to be exactly that) from what I have read is that women prefer to leave a good looking corpse. Poison and drug OD seems to be the preferred exit strategy.
Guys, OTOH — kaboom. Maybe the final swan dive, maybe the bullet, maybe something inventive.
I have contemplated an exit strategy for a bit. It is a big Sin so I have demurred. One does not spit in God’s eye with no blowback.

They are more likely to take a fatal overdose, or use a handgun. Well, this happened in London, so no handguns allowed.
