With the entire country seeing demonstrations following the Ferguson decision, I’ve had colleagues and business partners ask me my thoughts—not from my perspective as the chairman and CEO of a $55 billion organization—but as a black man in America.
You would think my experience as a top executive would be different from a black man who is working in a retail or food-service job to support his family. Yet, he and I both understand the commonality of the black male experience that remains consistent no matter what the economic status or job title.
This piece is not to complain about what is, but instead offer hope that we can harness the positive energy from the demonstrations for change and start a new chapter in America based on better understanding of race relations.
As Americans, we must deal with behavior that is unacceptable in today’s global world. The first step in changing negative behavior is to understand the underlying imagery of the black male, which doesn’t represent reality. Whether it’s Michael Brown in Ferguson, Trayvon Martin with his Skittles, Eric Garner who died after a choke hold, or the 12-year-old killed because he was waving a toy gun, when you see a black man killed, the imagery is more complicated than one might think. For example, words used by the white police officer to describe Michael Brown included some such as hulking and demon—words that bring up images going back to the days of slavery....

Maybe Mr Tyson could teach a large group of his black brothers and sisters how to act and behave in public and private and these stereotypes may eventually fade but a long history of misbehavior has created this reality that he is trying to deal with
There are reasons for stereotypes.
Considering that the vast majority of crime happens to be committed by blacks, what do they expect.

Once again it's time for Six Degrees of Slavery, where every possible instance of human communication is linked to "the days of slavery", which, as we all know, was the most important thing to ever happen in the entire history of the world.
it is a curious phenomenon that black hookers often refuse young african american men as customers. therefore are black hookers racist? this is a valid example for consideration because prostitution is totally unregulated in the US, so one can observe a market in which something approaching raw market forces are at work. imho the issue is not racism. call it whatever— pragmatic self protection, pragmatic self preservation, whatever. but not racism. not every young black guy is a hothead. but there is enough correlation, for better or otherwise, to warrant excluding young black guys from markets and associations where not mandated by government law. the only people who can help with such negative correlation are the young black guys themselves (although it would be amusing to see Holder rounding up black hookers and charging them with federal discrimination for refusing black guys).
Why did I have the feeling while reading this, that the guy was BSing me?
Someone explaining tipping to a well dressed and well groomed, obviously wealthy black gentleman? And the bit about being followed and denied service in an upscale department store? I think I saw that scene in the movie PRETTY WOMAN, when the snobby clerks wouldn’t wait on Julia Roberts’ character because she wasn’t well groomed.
Could it be that this guy is living a guilt trip because he’s filthy rich, and attempts to assuage it, AND also bull$h!t the bruthahs by spinning this yarn about being mistreated. Anything to keep them from coming after HIM, and torching HIS mansion! Just wondering.

Boo Frickin’ Hoo. Another black millionaire crying about “white privilege”. Maybe if you people (there, I said it) didn’t commit most of the crimes, maybe the cops wouldn’t automatically keep an eye on you. Blame your fellow blacks, not me.
This guy is something else.
Out of all the eligible people to carry the water for, why in the world would seemingly intelligent people use someone such as Martin and Brown as their ‘Poster Children’...when the Trayvon travesty began, all the race baiters thought they must have a winner with a George Zimmerman— why he has the same last name as two White Baseball players one from VA and the other from WI, and here we have a White Rent a Cop that doesn’t even get paid shooting a lad who was walking to grandmas house after a 7/11 run. The lapdog press runs a picture of Martin as a 12 year old looking sorta angelic. The case started going south when Zimmerman was found to be NOT white, so - in the spirit of the times, they declared him a White Hispanic ...meanwhile Trayvon’s image was being tarnished by some selfies he had placed on FB and lo & behold this little angel grew up to be a punk and acting like one. Not to be deterred the ‘media’ rewrote the image etc and after a lot of bickering and ruining Zimmerman for life, they had to back off.
Then along comes St Michael, a poor, innocent BIG youth, but athletic big and he was a recent HS grad who was leaving for college the next day and was walking home from a convenience store visit where he might have been in a little jam. “we was just walking up the street when this Honky MF Cop pulls up on us and screams at Big Mike to get the F out of the middle of the street. Big Mike (we will drop it to BM for brevity) said something to the pig and tried walking away. The pig was getting out of his car and BM kept walking so the pig just shot him for no reason. BM had a scared look on his face, raised his hands and said OK but the honky racist mfn pig shot him several times while BM was standing there with his hands up”. Reasonable story and the MEDIA flew with it. Within 24 hours it was determined the spinner of the above tale had told a mistruth of sorts, a tape surfaced of BM roughing up a guy that came about mid thigh and weighed about 80 pounds, BM - another brain trust that published SELFIES that showed him to be the thug that the Cops figured. By now the feeding frenzy had gotten so bad that they couldn’t back off, DOJ got involved and apparently the FPD was told to NOT release any of the data in regards to the strong armed robbery and assault on the Police Officer because it ‘may stir the crowd up’. Well, the media took care of that and by the team the Grand Jury handed down the ruling, the clowns in the ‘riot segment’ of the operation more or less said ‘No matter the verdict’ this place is going down. The grieving father was supposedly (roll eyes) heard to say “Burn this Bitch down” (Surely a quote worthy of being in the same company as ‘Remember Pearl Harbor’, ‘Damn the Torpedos, Full Speed Ahead’, ‘Hand Me MY Dark Pants” and ‘The Bitch Set Me Up’ and the old Nixonese “I am NOT a Crook’ and WJC and ‘I did NOT have sex with that woman) and the festivities began. The police just stood around playing switch, the revelers burnt a couple of cop cars, looted some stores, burned some buildings, stormed across an Interstate and several of ‘supporting’ groups hit key targets throughout the country...strangely, every city hit had the same Plan of Action which meant let them shut down highways etc with no response from the Police.
Anyway sir, why should I side with you on this. I have not been directly affected by your loving hordes, then again I live in an area where the Sheriff would be saying - ‘they’ said let them go??? Not on my watch besides I am ELECTED so my ‘love’ is to my constituents..AND any potential ‘trouble maker’ knows the 70 mile trip to either Alexandria or DC would be in his better interest - If he is concerned for his own self preservation.
At first glance maybe you would have had a little credibility with the cigarette salesman but that story has shifted so many times, the young lad with the toy gun may have been a jumping off point but if you weigh the entire story one could come down on either side BUT the link here is DON’T FIGHT A COP WITH A GUN. PERIOD.
Oh yes sir, if the kid had the gun that his FRIENDS said he had, and he would have shot several people in the area, YOU would be screaming for the scalp of the Cop for just waiting to try and assess the situation.
And sir, you know that all of these characters (maybe not the 12 yo) would have been ‘dealt with’ a lot quicker had they pulled their shenanigans and resistance towards their ‘peers’.
It is really a shame that half the stuff surfacing these days requires a ‘double check’ for the satire mark as some of this BS is totally unbelievable.
Oh boy, they sure can do cool stuff with their fingers.
If only they were as smart as they are flexible of finger.
