We used flourescent before florescent was cool OR green.
They’re cheaper and they don’t heat the house up during the long hot Texas summers.
I just hate being told I HAVE to use a certain type! We haven’t tried LEDs.

We did the same thing! Our kitchen in then old house would get so hot till we switched to CFLs.
But since LEDs have come down so far in price and offer warm white at 2700°K we've switched almost entirely to them. They are one 10th the wattage and last 20 years burn time so you don't have to change them for the rest of your life.
