Police in Beloit, Wisconsin, want residents to volunteer to let officers search their homes for firearms as part of a new initiative that officials believe will help reduce gun violence.
Beloit Police Chief Norm Jacobs told Wisconsin Public Radio that officers will mostly be looking for guns in homes that residents might not even be aware of. Thats really what were looking for. Maybe well find a toy gun thats been altered by a youngster in the house and we know the tragedies that can occur there on occasion, he added.
Jacobs also told WPR that gun violence is as serious as the Ebola virus. The home searches, he argued, are similar to a vaccine to strengthen the citys immune system, the report stated.
That being said, the police chief admitted he isnt anticipating a stampede of residents eager to have their homes searched.
In 2014, there have reportedly been seven gun-related homicides in Beloit. Most have victims have been teenagers or men in their 20s.
I want the White House to volunteer for a drug search.
College town.
The idiot “photo journalist” geek that got himself killed in the raid to “Rescue” him was a Beloit Alumnus.
.
gun violence is as serious as the Ebola virus.
Sure is and that’s why I keep my dogs away from cops...
Hussein claims to have a transparent government, volunteer it for a drug and child porn search
I like finding guns that I forgot I had, or forgot where I had put them. It's fun. Don't mess with it.
” Maybe well find a toy gun thats been altered by a youngster...”
“Altered” into what?
This guy should be fired for stupidity!
Well, yes! Because, you know, it is so easy for a child to refit a toy gun so it can be made into a much more functional and deadly firearm. Moron.
I don't know about that.
(I highly doubt it)
But I'm sure he's kissed A LOT of @$$.
College town, yes. Well shouldn’t the cops be offering to escort girls to class, to the library to parties to protect them? It happen to Lena Dunham, it could happen to any girl in Beloit.
find a toy gun.... wait, I thought they would be searching for real guns.... is this guy admitting they will looking for absolutely anything that the home-owner could be charged with.... hhhhmmmm
It’s where Illinois laps over into Wisconsin.
“Nutjob Conspiracy Pinglist item?”
Is there such a thing as a:
“Nutjob-N-A-Uniform-Conspiracy Pinglist item?
If not, there should be.
Bout time you armed up.............citizen.
As usual, they target honest, law-abiding citizens and deliberately and intentionally, with full awareness, leave hardened violent criminals alone.
The law-abiding civilian who inadvertently breaks the law will be arrested, and the criminal not. Reason: arresting the innocent person gets the arrest statistics up just as much as arresting the hardened criminal. Besides, the innocent person won’t put up a fight. Also, the hardened minority criminal has dozens of defense sharks (I mean lawyers) ready to defend him.
“If the cop really wants to ruin your day, yes.
Would you be convicted? NO, probably not, but by then your reputation is ruined isnt.”
Worst part is that you can have all your assets and your property seized by forfeiture.
Get it back?
Dream on.
“Is this from The Onion?”
Regrettably, no. There is a mindset that seems to think that if they think it or say it (thinking is actually optional), then it must be accomplished. Like the Pharaoh of Egypt in “The Ten Commandments” was fond of saying, “So let it be written, so let it be done.”
We are subject to a mindset which is approaching that of ancient Egypt.
At one time I had fantasies that the the trusty “six-shooter” cap gun I had could be converted into a real weapon firing real bullets. Limitations of physics and my capabilities soon ruled that out.
It’s Toes Day.
Naturally you wouldn’t use your fingers.
Practically a National Holiday...
Let me think ... haven’t we seen this before ... with the British military forcefully entering colonial homes uninvited in a search for guns? Have we gone full circle?
Got a warrent? NO, then, GET LOST-FLAT-FOOT!
