"Voters are stupid" economist Jonathan Gruber and Marilyn Tavenner face Issa and the House Oversight & Government Reform Committee today on C-SPAN 3.
FOX News reports that Tavenner has asked that she be seated anywhere but next to Gruber. Apparently, Gruber is radioactive. Time will tell whether this affliction is covered under Obamacare.
I just finished watching-——and it was all quite humorous.
Gruber’s nickname should be “Glib”——that seems to be his word of the day.
The next time I’m caught in a lie I will just say I was being glib.

Think he once campaigned as a ‘giant Sloar’ before.

Wonder if Gruber was offered a deal to discredit himself. His career is toast.

I think we need a new scale to evaluate statements, along the lines of the “Pinocchio” scale where so more noses are given for more lies. The new one (based on 0, low - 5, highest) should be the “Gruber Scale” with higher amounts of Grubers the more lies are uncovered. For example: Gruber’s statement that he was only a consultant would earn him 5 Grubers.
I think they’re following Cumming’s lead...no?

This is why Tavenner et al can’t give you a good enrollment number ... they don’t have a clue themselves due to the clusterfark currently going on (for explanation, see link) & subsidies are going to be screwed up for a lot of people who will not appreciate their premiums going up 30-100% when they let the government auto-enroll them:

There’s time for that in the SCOTUS, where they will likely hear it all over again based on Gruber stepping in it here today.
The goal today is to pose the Judas question: “How much did you get from Obama to lie to the American People?”
“Did it make you feel good knowing that you were being paid by those people to lie to them?”
There are so many YouTube moments in this hearing, some from DEMOCRATS, and I will tell you that YouTube is rapidly becoming the most popular broadcast outlet in the world.
I agree these other technical questions need to be asked. I don’t agree that you could get anywhere in your allotted 5 minute questioning period.

I think the whole hearing was scripted. I want all of us to imagine if we were in Gruber’s shoes. On the one hand, the man probably is wiz kid. He pulled off something that was pretty remarkable when you think about it, and he almost got away with it, until he started BRAGGING about it.
Money makes you confident and cocky esp with the ladies...and he probably got a taste of his new found fame...
So let’s imagine we are Gruber...and you have people like Cummings who articulate better than most what the left thinks of you....
I AM WILLING TO BET A YEAR’S SALARY THAT GRUBER WAS APPROACHED BY SOMEONE REPRESENTING THE ADMINISTRATION, IN A CLANDESTINE WAY, AND HE WAS TOLD IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS WHAT TO SAY AND WHAT NEVER TO SAY OR ADMIT TO.
I THINK WHOMEVER APPROACHED HIM MADE IT PRETTY CLEAR WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF HE DIDN’T DO THIS...

I noticed a lot of faces paling when that question was asked. Some of the suddenly concerned people acted surprised it was broached. And the questioning of CMS ‘do your enrollees know the consequences for 2015?’ it looks like the SCOTUS will be hearing a fraud, maybe even RICO argument.

I too expect Chaffetz to do better. But I would go a little easier on Issa than you. It needs to be recognized that the lawyers have figured out how to prepare a witness to attend a Congressional hearing, view a YouTube video of him/her brutally murdering an innocent victim and coming away without taking the 5th, answering any questions at all while declaring his/her innocence.
That's the way all of these hearings go - not just the ones run by Issa. A small exception to this rule may occur next year when we get to see more of Trey Gowdy. He might just be able to reverse a very bad trend.
