TARRANT, Alabama -- A woman caught shoplifting eggs in Tarrant Saturday didn't leave with handcuffs and a court date. Thanks to a Tarrant police officer, she left with food for her family.
Officer William Stacy was called to the Dollar General on Pinson Valley Parkway when employees caught the woman trying to steal a dozen eggs, Tarrant Police Chief Dennis Reno said.
The woman had her young children in the car. She told Officer Stacy that she was only stealing because she was trying to feed her children.
Stacy talked with Dollar General, and they said they wouldn't prosecute. So Stacy made an offer.

They had just used their life savings to make a 20% down payment on a modest first home that was within their financial means. He was the main wager earner and they decided she would stay home to raiser the kids, foregoing some luxuries to make that commitment to their children.
One night on the way home from a second job he took so they could afford to enroll their oldest daughter in private Christian school his car was broad sided at an intersection by someone running a red light. Being only 30, they did not figure they needed life insurance yet. She tried her best to hold the family together without a whole lot of success.
...Perhaps.
I try not to drink and post here. Just a thought.
You are fraud and you know it!.Merry Christmas
Well, that wouldve been on the other extreme. This is a matter of rewarding bad behavior, not good to go there.
I believe there could be other lessons in this for her too.
I see that as his prerogative as much as it would be the choice of any citizen. I doubt that paying for a dozen eggs was the only assistance he offered. Now that he’s aware of her and her situation I’m sure he will point her in the direction of some legitimate help.
Those are some nice fish on your home page!
I would like to think that I would find some other way to feed my kids if I was broak but if I had to steal because that would be the only way my kids would not starve I would steal.
His or her family's blood relatives would be of assistance.
Their church who has a responsibility to the widows and orphans.
Their friends and neighbours or a "good Samaritan".
Stealing should be the last resort. If you rob a bank or steal a carton of eggs, which is the greater wrong? I cannot throw stones, you must choose what is right for you, not for me.
“A woman caught shoplifting eggs in Tarrant Saturday didn’t leave with handcuffs and a court date.”
Uh, okay. She gets to avoid paying for her actions AND she gets free stuff? I don’t care if her children were starving. She could adopt them out, put them in foster care, etc. How is she going to cook these eggs? I could understand a starving person stealing bread, but eggs?
Lev. 19
9 And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not wholly reap the corners of thy field, neither shalt thou gather the gleanings of thy harvest.
10And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gatherevery grape of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the LORD your God.
I think I misread your post. I apologize for that. I thought you said $200 a week for each person. I know that for 2 people the tops they get is $357 a month, and once again that depends on other factors. A family of 3 = top is $497 a month. This is in Ohio and I don’t know if it varies from state to state or not. I believe it does because of what is allowable for utility reductions. Some states offer higher because of cold weather and higher heating bills. So, once again I apologize - I’ve had a very long day.
It’s not a fact. It’s a safe assumption.
The fact that I took this picture in a random supermarket near where I live is one more very strong indication that there is something fundamentally wrong and corrupt with the welfare system. (among OTHER things)
Dinesh D'Souza's relative when he lived in India said to him (paraphrased) when he was a boy: "I want to go to America, because even the poor people there are fat." I don't know about how hungry or not hungry this woman and her children were. But on the surface, I tend not to buy it. I don't see people being heartless here. I see people who are frustrated at an abused and obviously completely corrupt system.
There are many other legal, more honorable options in the Birmingham area.
There “should” be a husband and father for the children.
If a family needs help, they should first go to their extended family, who have a Biblical obligation to help.
If that does not fix the problem, the family should go to their church.
It was a very nice thing the officer did.
The anti-US-jobs policy of the financial elites of globalist new world order is designed to destroy the support system mentioned above, and increasingly produce this situation, which is - fatherless poor families (regardless of their ethnic background).
So the woman left her children in the car, unattended, while she committed a crime. In my part of the world, the shop lifting might be overlooked but the “child abuse,” would be fully prosecuted.
Plenty of food stamp recipients sell their food allowances for cash, presumably to buy other things they value more....including bombs, as in the Ferguson case recently.
“If you had no money, would you steal to feed your kids?”
Yes, eastforker. I would. A dozen eggs or a pack of inexpensive bologna.. something to put in their empty bellies. I guess this makes me an evil, bad person...
” What would you do if you had no money and your kids was hungry? “
I’d ASK someone for help before I’d teach my children to rationalize criminality. Stealing is stealing.
“We do not know the why, all we know is her kids were hungry. If you had no money, would you steal to feed your kids?”
I never had to steal. One year before the kids were old enough for DW to go back to work, I poached two deer one year. Things were really tight back then. Never considered welfare tho, and I have nothing against those who actually need it.
