Massive fire in downtown Los Angeles closed down portions of two major freeways Monday morning and could be seen for miles.

I got to tell you, posts on this thread seem pretty psychotic.
.
Watts all over again?
I drove though it this morning. Massive construction site on fire ...
It is an entire very large construction site. I drove through this morning.
Whenever I want to persuade someone else to think like me, I always like to win them over by interfering with their commute ,yelling at them and setting fires.
Looks huge.
Is it north of the 10 in the big building being built?
Have to wonder: How could a fire grow so large right there in the middle of dntn LA without a fire dept reaction HOURS ago?

“See aye ay”
Hmmm.
It is just below Temple ... Sunset Blvd. It is well above the 10 ... around the 101 Hollywood Fwy.
Yes, the big building being built. One of the Italian named places. This one was the Da Vinci.
Marc Cota-Robles @ABC7MarcCR 2m2 minutes ago Los Angeles, CA LA fire crews working 2nd large fire on 2800 W 7th, 10+ businesses & apartments under renovation, no injuries @ABC7
The fire I understand began around 2 AM. They said 250 fire-fighters.
When I transitioned from the Hollywood Fwy, it extended from Sunset Blvd almost to LA LIVE even though that was mostly smoke.
It’s dark when I come to work. I looked hard and I noticed that massive apartment building they were working on was all black wood.
Thanks.
Exactly, The ideological spawn of Bill Ayers and other bomb throwers.
Cynicism? Don't think so. Most urban construction site fires during off-hours are due to arson.
Besides...these buildings are part of a little bit of controversy. You see, this is part of LA's Prop1C 'affordable housing' initiative.
The most glaring quote of all the information out there:
...according to data from the California Association of Realtors, California median-income households (those with a median household income of $54,140) were $73,810 short of the $127,950 qualifying income needed to purchase a median-priced home at $545,910.Anyone with half a brain can see the problem. Their fix? Spend tax dollars, build high-density housing, eliminate cars and stimulate more mass transit...all in the name of 'livability'...but they 'are' creating jobs.../s
They are using this same approach to deal with like issues in areas like Seattle & Portland. The last time I was in Seattle there were new construction projects on almost every other block...tall apartment towers of 'affordable housing' squeezed in among high-end boutiques...all while eliminating cars. And, of course, the response to the effect of reducing car usage is to whine about reduced vehicle usage taxes and find new ways to tax us all to keep the engine running.
More on the extent of this major project to subsidize/obfuscate California's/LA's economic problems:

I suppose the big question is whether the fire has anything to do with the 'protests'; well, perhaps not directly. The way this project has been rammed down Angelino's throats, there's no question some opposition out there might consider using the protests for their own purposes, be it in protest of the project or insurance fraud. Or perhaps Donald Sterling or the-like owns one or more of the construction companies...
But it's Ok now: You see, the last opposition has withdrawn /s
Was I cynical enough?
Creating union jobs to build this, then more union jobs to clean it up, then more union jobs to build it again...........
Not what I heard this morning on radio. Just a construction site, according to that.
Of course, maybe this “2nd” big fire?
My guess would be a large amount of accelerant.
Marxists and muzzies committing arson? Thanks Bodleian_Girl.
