Yes, I agree. The scan is way overkill IMO, unless it’s a very bad case and they are trying to assess total damage.

Unless the acid reflux is a temporary feint and the CAT scan it to find the real problem.

CT scans are not used to diagnose GERD!

In most cases, it's a clinical diagnosis.

But from the stories we've been spoon-fed by the media, Obama went in for a sore throat.

Again you would never CT scan someone for a "sore throat".

UNLESS, as the stories are telling us, Obama had a fiberoptic look-see first.

Again, that is not standard of care for a "sore throat".

Really have any of you been scoped when you said you had a sore throat?

The scope showed something strange, so the doctors are looking for a serious cause.

And FGS, they wouldn't be CT scanning the area for a benign condition.

I hope it's nothing, but the press is really pissing me off about this.

Go find the world's stupidest doctor and ask him if a CT scan is EVER used for a benign sore throat?

Well, if suspected, I would agree with that.

I will say that an endoscopy would probably do as well at less cost, but I’m not sure how they price these things so anyone’s guess is as good as mine.
